Depending on your window/door set-up....just use a roll around AC unit.

i'm thinking in a garage one doesn't need the air cooled, just dehumidified...
that said I just installed this ac/heat pump in my kitchen for $2900 complete and I am totally satisfied. Image Unavailable, Please Login

That looks nice. I never considered anything professional like that , the only units I would buy are the ones from kenmore or the like.
I am going to look into it too , I could use in my basement.

I saw a brand that looked decent when researching for my crawl space-Santa Fe. You might look at those when comparison shopping. No personal experience with them yet.

I have a 12,000 BTU window AC unit and it cools the fully insulated 3-car garage to mid/low 60's degree F all summer long even when its hot out. One of the benefits of this is it cools the walls and ceilings which are also living space on the other side and helps with the rest of the AC load inside the house. The 13 SEER unit is small, runs on 115 volts, was about $400, installed in minutes and eliminates humidity in the garage. If no windows then the split unit is the way to go. My belief is that the cooler and dryer the better for all things metal. plastic, and especially those Ferrari soft coatings.
