Lol..ok at least we made something out of a crappy thread.... while i have you guys here..any thoughts of living and attending Cornell?
Ask Hubi...all I knew that there's that famouse suicide bridge and too many asian people go there...then these asian graduates make lots of $$ then start driving Ferrari's...freaking it's the cradle of Asian Invasion...
Cornell weather is gloomy and overcast like over 75% of the time. makes u want to jump off the bridges.
Don't believe the naysayers Ryan. Went to university there as an undergraduate. Some amazing memories, on all fronts. Highly endorsed. PM me if you want to discuss further. Do you have the option to go there?
hubi went to cornell? where i am..it is infested with asians as well..i don't mind..they are good people
F the weather. how about getting in and out of the city? how far is it? thoughts on teh law school there, as opposed to columbia? dont suggest nyu..not on the list (due to my prior visit) is there any life in cornell...all i hear is its a place of milking cows..
yes i am a Cornell Alum. drive from nyc to cornell is around 4-5 hours i think. forgot...it's been a while not much to do in cornell. and that is the truth. for fun, only thing is to drink. its boon docks out there. weather sux major arse too
I dont even drink. Why do you guys say the weather sux..is it really that diff from NYC? 4-5 hours! Damn..i thought it was an hour or so. Hmm...the decisions in life just keep getting tougher and tougher
much closer to lakes = more lake-effect storming all those hills through there also snag the storms and hold them (is that a technical meteorological description), while in NYC they just roll on through as winds blow them out to sea. so the weather is really much different on the other hand, I've heard they have beautiful summers while NYC is sweltering, but that probably doesn't help the picture for you much.
LAfun2, did u know that Ithaca, NY (where cornell is) was voted in the top 5 GLOOMIEST cities in the USA? this was published somewhere i forgot where, but BEWARE....Ithaca weather sux more than ricotta cheese fat nasty arse!!! nyc weather compared to cornell weather is like being on Bora Bora during the summer!
Hubert, I was not aware of that. However, having spent considerable time in Seattle, I don't think anything else could be worse. Schultzois, Ah the lakes, didn't take that into account. Since it is a college town, what is the population diversity compared to say NYC? Do you see more rich suburban people out there? Just trying to get a feeling for it. Lastly, New Haven or Ithaca, where would you guys rather live? Ghost Thanks for the PM, will respond tonight. Much appreciated.
The Cornell population is very diverse. HOWEVER, it is very segregated. the chinks stick with the chinks. the kim chees stick with the kim chees. the rednecks and frat boyz stay with themselves. the freaks stay with the freaks. It's rare to see a diverse group of friends there hanging out. and Rich Ithaca suburban people??? does not exist. (well there arent that many over there) I havent been to New Haven before, but i would pick New Haven over Ithaca any day (that's assuming i was choosing based on living conditions only)
Now that I think about it, a good acquaintance of mine has been a PhD student at Cornell the last few years. And this after doing undergrad in Seattle and growing up in Portland, OR. Knows how to pick 'em doesn't he? I'll see if I can get him to make a comparison. I don't think he's gone off the bridge yet. Then again, he could just be trying to punish himself. He is a physicist, after all.
But what I remember of New Haven is that it's an unliveable pit (no offense to anyone, just what I remember when I visited awhile back). On the plus side, I did drive through a year ago and remember thinking maybe it wasn't as bad as I remembered...
