Man, that is unreal...I was on my way to work this morning at around 6.30 am and Versailles Rd was closed...I had to detour around the airport and found a way back to the BG Parkway....I get to work and find out that a Comair flight has gone down in Lexington with 49 fatalities...

God Bless those souls and their families...RIP.

Scary thing is, my wife and I took that exact same flight to Atlanta in June on a trip to Greece...we have flown Comair many times, and it is a safe, well run airline...

    So sad..RIP...

Steve, as a small aside, it was nice meeting you and the gang yesterday...hope we can meet up again real soon.

Also a little errie that we were all hanging out right there less than 24 hours earlier with those planes passing about 400 feet above us.

As noted in another thread, we are planning on a car swap in Louisville. You are more than welcome to bring your CGT or F40 or Stradale and join the fun:)
Your cars make up the modern day "Justification for a higher education" poster from the 1980's.

Sounds like the pilot went down the wrong run way, one that was too short and he did not have enough speed. The plane crashed about a mile from the end of the run way.

It's all very odd. They say that CVR recorded the pilot call V1 and the ground scars show that the pilot tried to rotate hard. Why not slam the engines to full reverse, step hard on the brakes and run the plane off the runway when you see that you are running out of pavement? I know that it all happened very quickly, but isn't it part of a pilot's job to make life and death decisions on a moments notice?

Probably he was hoping he could make it....

He knew running off at 120+ (guess) he was going to kill people.

He did make a decision. Maybe it wasn't the best, but we all have 20/20 vision when we look at the past. RIP to all onboard

    Not sure yet

But, the airport was having repairs done and taxiway routes were "altered".

Unfortunatley it's just simple pilot error as he should have noticed the heading indicator, the runway number, the runway lights were off.

Also, there was only one controller in the tower.... not a good thing.
