The Delta Wing crashed today, at RD ATLANTA !
Going through turn 10 a & b . the Delta and a Porsche were running close. As they went under the bridge, they touched. The Delta went into the wall on the left going down the hill. The rear of the car hit hard. There were reports that the Delta flipped, but unsure. I was on the hill at turn 10 at the time, and went up to the bridge to see what happened. The Delta was up right, but in peices, with the rear having taken the majority of the damage !! The Porsche proceded to the pits, on its own.

Still a waste of time, even if entirely the Porsche's fault. I wouldn't be putting $1 towards the effort that is for sure.

The impact was only 7g. So not bad at all, considering F1 cars pull 6g through some corners (130r).

You know, that looked very dangerous to me. We had a member here get impaled with a mirror stalk, but I'm guessing they thought of that with the mirror that broke away and "it could not do that". And I was thinking with his head so close to the ground that something could potentially hit him square in the face or forehead from that angle. Did it look that way to anyone else? Also, I recall reading about a crash or series of crashes in the 50s that caused the racing organizers to eliminate sports cars and "single seat formula cars" racing together. Is this car too low or hard to see? Just a question, that's all. It was to be a replacement for the IRL car? Apples and Oranges?

Watching the Delta Wing today was really cool. It was SOO fast through the corners and sounded neat too. It just looked so alien on the track.
