https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDJip8RHn-8 dodge confirming demon will come with wide body and 18 x 11 wheels with................wait for it............................................standard dedicated 315 nitto drag radials! how crazy is that?! drag radials from factory on a car that might have 800 hp. wow
This is the Dodge website with the 3 Videos they have released so far. They are releasing 1 per week until the unveiling at the New York Auto Show. 2018 Dodge Demon - Domestic. Not Domesticated. #ifyouknowyouknow No AWD Over 200lbs lighter Dodge revealed that the 2018 Challenger Demon gets 18×11-inch lightweight alloy wheels all around, which come wrapped in Demon-branded 315/40R18 Nitto NT05R tires. That makes the Demon the first production car ever to wear drag radials from the factory, according to Dodge. At least 850 hp maybe more. And yes I'm number 1 at my dealer!
Good for Dodge....HUGE horsepower always sells (see Hellcat), but to compare this to the upcoming Super Corvette (whatever they call it) is just silly. Apples/Oranges in construction AND purpose. The Demon is a 1/4 mile car, PERIOD. Jimmy
Would be totally kewl if they had an optional lightweight package. No carpet, a.c., radio, heater, and backseat etc... A factory racer just barely legal for the street. Amazing someone has the balls to offer this package. It will not sit on the lot. Advertising is shrewd. Release a bit of information every week.
Would be interesting if this car gets treated like the COPO Camaro and the Mustang R that were dedicated drag strip cars from the factory and required a NHRA licences to buy it. We already know it comes with drag radials so its not going to be a high build car for the street.
No it will be completely street legal, just going to be one of the fastest production cars in the 1/4 mile.
I searched around and couldn't find anything yesterday. I have to think $90k, if not a little more. Mark
The biggest question in my mind is how many will be produced. If blow out numbers then maybe you can get one under sticker. If kept exclusive then people may have to wait awhile for used prices on low miles cars to decline.
There is already a Super Stock Challenger that competes with the Ford and Chevy offerings. None are able to be registered for the street. This is an entirely different beast.
I am patient. Quite a few buyers will put these away as 'investments.' Give me your old, tired, depreciated, low mile, and unwanted collector cars. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Demon will have a changeable servo that will allow it to run on pump gas or race fuel. 850HP for sure, maybe more with race gas.
tic toc ... only a few hours to go If the recent rumors and leaks are true, what this thing will do on race fuel is INSANE.
Yep 0 - 60mph : 2.3 sec 0 - 100mph : 5.1 sec 1/4 mile : 9.65 sec @ 140mph 840 HP not bad not too bad at all ...
Basically on par with a 918, up to ~80 mph anyhow but then not far behind afterward, for 5% of the price. Comparisons between the cars end there but still that's insane.
On another note I hope this smokes values of hellcats because I'd love to pick one up for $40k and drive the hell out of it.
