    Guns v Drs.

    (A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is
    700,000.
    (B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians
    per year are
    120,000.
    (C) Accidental deaths per physician
    is
    0.171.
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of
    Health Human Services.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    Now think about this:
    Guns:
    (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S.
    is
    80,000,000.
    (Yes, that's 80 million..)
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    (B) The number of accidental gun deaths
    per year, all age groups,
    is
    1,500.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    (C) The number of accidental deaths
    per gun owner
    is
    .000188.
    Statistics courtesy of FBI
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    So, statistically, doctors are approximately
9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,
    BUT
ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    Please alert your friends
    to this
    alarming threat.
    We must ban doctors
before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Out of concern for the public at large,
I have withheld the statistics on
    lawyers
for fear the shock would cause
people to panic and seek medical attention.

Geeeeeeeeeeeez I just got it in an email and got a chuckle off it and thought others might as well.

Leave it to F-chat uptight twits to take a silly post like that seriously and get their panties in a wad.

So, since Hurricanes are hitting we need to end all humor and entertainment? Do you support cancelling the NFL season, major league baseball playoffs and all new movie releases scheduled during Hurricane season?

Perhaps you can buy a sense of humor.

I thought it was funny! I love what you can do with statistics.
    "We must ban doctors
before this gets completely out of hand!!!!! " LOL

Of course I always liked the one about banning water also:

    Dihydrogen monoxide:
    · is also known as hydroxl acid, and is the major component of acid rain.
    · contributes to the "greenhouse effect."
    · may cause severe burns.
    · contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
    · accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
    · may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
    · has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.

Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
    · as an industrial solvent and coolant.
    · in nuclear power plants.
    · in the production of styrofoam.
    · as a fire retardant.
    · in many forms of cruel animal research.
    · in the distribution of pesticides.
    · as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.

The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its "importance to the economic health of this nation."

It goes on for a full page. I just clipped some parts out of it.

Why don't you fill out your profile. You have a bad attitude! No one called you any names.

Don't worry about this guy he is just pissed because P&R has moved into the subscriber section of F-chat and he won't pony up the money to help Rob out.

Most all of BRUCE'S replies are tongue and cheek. Your calling him a jerk was a real ****** thing to do. Is that the type of person you are? 99% of us love Bruce like a brother. I guess we all have to put up with 1% or less of the members that are the REAL JERKS!

plus he called you a "uptight twit" don't forget that :)

You preach about being uptight but if you weren't so "uptight" then you would have blown off Bruce's comment, right ?

so who's the most "uptight twit" here ?? huh ? :)

Besides, you failed to mention the, "How many lives Doctors saved this year" stats, my father being one last month ;)

Terry, I'm with you. All you were doing was trying to slip in a little humor. Some guys on here take themselves way too seriously, particularly certain MD's and lawyers.

So lets see. According to those stats 1 in 6 docs accidentally kills a pt every year. Uh...yeah. Thats sounds about right...

So then, an average doc is expected to accidentally kill some one every six years, or about 8 people during his working life span. Yep. Gee...thats sounds about right...

So, 120,000 folks are accidentally killed each year by docs... Well then, seems like in 100 years most of the us citizens should be dead...

    I'll keep track...

    You have to love statistics...
