Anyone having problems getting a return of a deposit placed on a new Ferrari?
I placed an order in October 2024 and canceled via phone and email in October 2024, I have been told many times my deposit return is coming but it needs to come from Ferrari Italy as that is who holds it.
I understand a bit of a wait but this is now getting drawn out.

I made a deposit and never got around to placing an order. Several months later dealer refunded by check from dealer within days of my request for deposit return. No problems or delays and dealer has remained happy to continue my service needs.

Perhaps process is different after an order is placed.

The dealership holds the deposit and it can sometimes take months and lots of phone calls/emails to get them to refund it.

mkraft is correct. Whoever told you that Ferrari manufacturer in Italy holds your deposit money is a heck of a storyteller.

Is my recollection correct that the deposits on limited edition cars goes to Italy but for the others it stays with dealers

It depends on the model, for Purosangue and newer models Ferrari changed the order process. After you leave the deposit with the dealer, they're sent to the factory.

I heard both stories. Also, dealer refunding meant some sort of “penalty” from Italy. Could have also been bonus related. Took a long time.

Not one single penny of your deposit is sent to Italy, not even on special models. If a dealer has an allocation, they pay invoice to Ferrari and in turn sell it to you. The deposit is with that specific dealership one thousand percent.
