Thanks AC6 Cars and bikes were in various places. Did not devote dedicated time to moving them in - just moved something when it was in my flight path. Moved over 4 or 5 days. Weather also not always favourable when I had time to move something
Congratulations. You have really accomplished something unique here... you should be proud. Joe www.joesackey.com
What an awsome hang out place. Congrats ! Do you start the Daytona sometimes to fill the garage with the smell of the burnt fuel ?
I have exhaust fans that hook to the pipes of the car. Only smell is when I move the cars in and out but even then no smell because there are a lot of fans. Burnt fuel smell is great I agree but not too much of it
Do you have the ability to expand it if your collection outgrows the current capacity? Can you add a second storey, or would it be simpler/easier/cheaper to just get a new location with greater capacity?
Realities of property in Hong Kong are not all that simple and you would be shocked I am sure with asset values - particularly on Hong Kong island. This property is in a large industrial building. There are only 3 groundfloor workshops. There is no potential for me to build anything. Practically speaking I will not expand my collection in Hong Kong beyond the capacity of this garage. I may well add other cars in other parts of the world.
DM18, what are your thoughts on the McLaren F1? Any interest in ever getting one, either in Hong Kong or elsewhere?
Congratulations, DM. Looks like you've realised a long term dream with this garage to house some of your favourite & much loved toys. I'm sure it will inspire a few others to dream of their own garages & collections. I am rarely in this sub-forum and only just discovered the thread. I read it from the start. Thanks for sharing. Great threads like this remind me of how wonderful it is to have the internet and chat forums like this to interact with other enthusiasts worldwide. Regards, Pete
Many thanks. I have spent a lot of time over the weekend installing battery tender leads, making a China drive grill set for the Evo X, fixing up some wiring on the Daytona... I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have proper light, proper tools, a car lift... Installing the battery tender in the 288 GTO took some thought as to how to run the leads, some soldering, heat shrink etc. What a pleasure to have a proper heat gun, power at the car, etc and the ability to work for a few hours and leave everything apart overnight. While I had everything apart I took a good long look at some future projects. In the past I would have suffered doing these jobs at my home and would have achieved a fraction of the output with much frustration. It is also great having my garage in an industrial area as there are lots of supplies readily available.
Wow oh wow DM18 what a fantastic garage and I'm happy for you that it's finally finished. I am really looking forward to some pic's/video's of you driving the car's around the beautiful HK countryside. Once again many thank's for sharing with us all my friend. Gregg
Unfortunately the weather really sucks at this time of year so precious little chance to drive anything nice. I will spend the summer in Alaska. Photos videos will need to wait until September! Spent some more time getting the AV system blasting - big fun playing very loud music late at night without a worry. Check out Brett Dennen - a John Mayer protege on the way up
