Desperately Seeking 328 FUSEBOX fix!

Hi,
I haven't been able to drive my baby for oer 6 months. The fusebox is shot and I need to either get a new one or rebuild the old one.

Either way is fine with me. I would very very much appreciate any information about where to find one or how to hardwire my present one. I suppose all I really need is a GOOD schematic I can follow.

The car is a 1987 GTS with ABS.

Birdman's are replacements for the twin 308 blocks, IIRC the 328 is a different animal....

 

4 years back my 328 fuse box burnt out and we couldn't find one anywhere in the world. We ended up just cold soldereding the fuse box bad connections to the good ones. Good luck.

 

I did the same. It took me two and a half full day to dismantle and fix t but it worked flawlessly since.

 

I was with the new owner last week, no problems also. I talked to a tech at Steve Harris right after I had the issue and he said they do that all the time on older cars.

Is there any particular part of the fusebox that goes first?

 

I did basically the same thing for a bad window motor circuit. I soldered wires between the leads on the back of the board.

Mine was the right window motor.

I basically did this fix too. I used separate colors for each board removed and re-made the relay connections and wire posts. Also, I used 14 gauge solid core wire from Home Depot; stranded wire is not best for a board like this since the strands will retain flux and cause corrosion and added heating. After the re-do, all worked better, but there were still some glitches...I traced those to the board connectors; in fact, when I let the board hang by the wiring harnesses without mounting and stuffing the board behind the access panel and pressing onto the connectors, I get fewer glitches (obvious indicator of stressing the connectors). I am currently dreaming up a fix for this and will post the effort this winter.

I may check with Dave Helms on the improved internal spring connector pieces that go inside the connector bodies...they got GOLD!!!
