I searched the archives but could not find a detailed description as to how a 30K mile major service is performed on a 308/328. I am basically looking for an “Idiot’s guide to performing a 30K miles service on your 308/328”. If anyone has such a document, would you kindly post it for others to share. Thanks.

I have what you are looking for.......

    1. Call mechanic (preferrably a Ferrari dealership or someone will use that against you when you sell it)

    2. Explain you want a 30K done.

    3. Set up appointment.

    4. Bring car in. Some will pick it up for you depending on the kind of money you have spent in their establishment.

    5. Wait one week.

    6. Wring hands over expectation of bill of sale.

    7. Go get car.

    8. Pay bill.

    9. Wipe eyes and try not to lose composure in front of service desk.

    10. Drive home feeling, for the first time, confident that your timing belt won't snap and wreck your motor. At least not today.

    11. Store receipt in large file with the rest of them so you look like a concerned/anal/caring previous owner when it comes time to sell.

    12. The next day, the fear will probably come back when you read a post or two on FerrariChat about someone's cousin's friend's brother whos timing belt snapped the DAY after his 30k and set him back $22k.

Hey, you are getting EXACTLY what you asked for..... ;-)

I hope not, because that would be asking a bit much, to explain how to do each of like 20 different jobs.

I found this thread searching for a shop in Portland to get a (gasp!) 60k mile service done on my '78 308. That list you posted - what shop is that from?

Does anyone see anything missing from that list? Does the price seem reasonable?

    Thanks!

A person named Ric Rainbolt wrote a great one for a 308. The 328 is slightly different. This procedure is step by step. I took his and started to modify it for the 328, but never quite finished.
Ric's can be found here http://www.camerafilters.com/ec/timing.htm

    Enjoy,

    Mark
