Can anyone recommend a good detailer in the DC/MD/VA area. The garage in my condo leaked snow runoff on the rear qtr of my F430 (condo assn agreed to pickup the detail tab). I've heard stories about this stuff ruining paint jobs. I spot washed twice and the stains are still there. A friend suggested lemon juice but I didn't want to try the old wives tale.

Pissed about the whole thing. Can you believe the condo association initially balked at picking up the detail tab to a couple of other residents?? After hearing what they could possibly be replacing a F430 they did an about face.

Anyone had any experience getting these stains out of the paint?? Just want a little background on the process and exactly what the detailer will do.

    Thanks all!!!

If it is just snow run off, it may just be a slight chemical ecthing into the clear coat. It may need to be machine polished out if it is indeed etched. If its simply stained, a mild paint cleanser or polish such as Meguiars ColorX (available in any walmart or autozone) can be applied to remove the stain.

Its very hard to determine a remedy without seeing pics or the stain in person

I would try paint clay first. Without seeing it, it's hard to tell how bad it is or deeply set in it is but clay is the safest DIY way to go before hiring a pro and machine polshing the paint. I had a similar problem before from a deck and the clay was all that is needed.

    PM me if needed.

I highly recomend the detail guy. He was here last week and did five of my cars.

He did such a good job that now I am spoiled and would not want to use anyone else.

The paint on my 550 is deep, liquid red.

See his web site and get ahold of him.

Download the pic to your computer and use a program like photoshop to resize the image. If resized properly it should come in clear.

The clay bar worked fine. Took alot of work as the stuff had been on the car a good 4 weeks. Putting a little bit of elbow into it got it off.

    Thanks!!!

I highly recommend you polish that spot after using the claybar. A claybar is actually a very fine abrasive and if you used some pressure or not enough spray, then you more then likely marred the paint with swirls. ColorX or any light polish will help get rid of some of that. OR if you did it correctly 100% , then you might have very little to no marring :)
