Any good detailers in CT that you can recommend?
Rocco's Auto Detailing is great. He is a mobile business so he comes to you. Rocco Santilli 860-416-8960 Tell him Joe from Wethersfield (part of the Glastonbury CT Gathering group) referred you over. Joe
cove26- I normally work out of my shop in Wakefield, MA, but would be happy to travel to CT if you are still looking for a detailer. I specialize in advanced paint correction/high-end detailing and was named one of the Top US Auto Detailers by Autoweek Magazine. I have several references available upon request and have an extensive portfolio that I would be happy to forward along. I am more than happy to provide you with some additional information if you are interested. Below are just a couple examples of some details I have performed over the past year so you can get an idea of the caliber of work I perform. http://www.autopia.org/forum/pro-details-before-after/112838-porsche-911-carrera-s-complete-vehicle-rejuvenation-6-days-countless-hours.html http://www.autopia.org/forum/pro-details-before-after/111174-40th-anniversary-zr-1-corvette-8-days-more-than-60-hours-rickrack.html http://www.autopia.org/forum/pro-details-before-after/112927-imola-red-bmw-m5-w-dinan-pkg-full-correction-rickrack.html Mods, feel free to delete/edit this post if it is in violation of any forum rules...
+1 for Rickrack. As a fellow detailer, I have conversed with Rick on the phone many times. His level of knowledge about all aspects of detailing is truly remarkable.
+2 for Rickrack. Not only is he unbelievably talented at what he does, but he is a professional and an asset to the detailing community. Rick is a detailer's-detailer! His skills are second to none!
Rick Nelson at Unique aka rickrack is 100% the real deal. His work, dedication, and craft is an inspiration to all in the detail field. You cannot go wrong. He is a great and honest guy who has made more car owner's jaws drop. +1000 on rickrack
people from GA, OH, FL come to the Northeast forum to vouch for you? after seeing your posts on autotopia i dont doubt your skills or work, but do these people regularly read this NORTHEAST forum? whole thing seems kind of SPAMMY. regardless, i still am looking for a detailer. havent gotten around to hiring anybody yet. still looking for options. people of your skill level though, never post prices. I have seen countless posts like those that you have linked with crazy multiday details, but never any prices. nobody wants to advertise what they charge. so let me ask you outright, how much do you charge? this is coming from someone who has spent hundreds on a single detail before, but is sick of these crazy detail posts without any prices. do you have an hourly rate?
First off, thanks for all of the positive comments, I really appreciate it... JoeyM- Being an avid car enthusiast and professional detailer, I am a member on many, many forums and visit multiple car forums every day. One of the first things I do a search for "detailing", as it is something I am truly passionate about and enjoy discussing, so I'm guessing this is how members from other states found this post. Someone posted that they were looking for a detailer and I simply posted that I would be glad to help them out if they were interested. Definitely not looking to "spam" the board. I understand that every forum is different, which is why I mentioned in my post that a moderator is more than welcome to edit/delete my post if it is violation of forum rules in any way. That aside, I would be happy to discuss pricing via PM or by e-mail as I do not want to advertise my business on here. I do not have any set pricing for my services as every car is different. It all depends on the condition of the vehicle and how extensive the customer is looking to go. It's like asking a landscaper how much they charge to mow a lawn... It depends on how big the yard is, is it on a steep hill?, etc... I always like to see a vehicle in person and try to get an idea what the customers expectations are. If someone has a certain budget they are trying to stay within, I do my best to custom tailor a detail to suit their specific needs/price range. I am a very honest and trustworthy person that takes detailing very seriously. Detailing is my passion and is more than just making a buck. As for having an hourly rate, NO I do not. I try to to be as fair as possible and always give my clients a solid figure how much it is going to cost, which Is why I prefer to see a car in person before giving an estimate. If I detail someones car at my shop and charge by the hour, the customer has no way of knowing if the total amount of hours is legit or not. Only on rare occasions (less than 5) have I ever needed to alter pricing in my 15 years of detailing. That said, I would be more than happy to tell you more about the services I offer and discuss pricing via private e-mail/PM. Best regards, ~Rick
i PM'ed you. i'm gonna rant a little specifically to you as a pro-detailer. i too am on lots of car forums. i have seen so many posts like your links. giant pic threads of awesome details with before and after pics. not once, have i seen a price! let me talk to you as a customer. i am not a person here to stroke you. i have 8 cars in various states. some pretty minty, and some daily drivers. i have paid for pro details before, in the few hundred dollar range (they were great and worth it, just too far from my house). so i am definitely a potential customer. my problem is how do i find a good one and at a reasonable (and i dont mean cheapest) price. all cars are different, but if i cant even gauge what ballpark you are in, i wont even bother to seek you out. it's not worth my time to drive two hrs to show you my car without me having any idea of how much your services are. so as a note for all you pro detailers out there, i think showing at least a ballpark figure of what you charge for those crazy details, will only help your business.
JoeyM- Thanks for the PM. I'll respond in a few... I completely understand where you're coming from regarding pricing. When it comes to finding a highly skilled detailer/paint correct specialist, there are very few options out there. Most people dont truly understand what is involved in the process and how many hours it can take to make a car perfect. Many people dont know what the difference is between a $150 detail and a $2,000 detail. I like to educate potential customers as much as possible before giving them a price quote and describe to them what exactly is involved and what makes my services different from the competition. I wont get into all the specifics what makes me different, but just know that there is no comparison between the detail shop on the corner and the services I offer. If I simply posted one of my extensive details along with a price, people would automatically think Wow, that is really expensive, I can get it done for $150 down the street. I completely understand that everyone has a budget and my services are not for everyone. Not all the cars I detail are expensive. I am not a snob and will work on anything from a Honda Civic to a Maybach. My prices range anywhere from $200 for a basic detail up to $2,000 for an extensive paint correction/complete vehicle rejuvenation. There are many things that come into play when giving an estimate. It depends on all kinds of factors, such as the overall condition of the vehicle, color of the vehicle, paint hardness/softness, paint thickness, type of paint (single stage, laquer or basecoat clearcoat), customers expectations, if they have multiple cars, etc If I give someone a price to detail their silver Lexus, which has quality paint that is easy to deal with and post the price for everyone to see on the internet, the person with the black Porsche that has ultra soft, finicky paint to deal with will think Im ripping him off when I tell him a more expensive price. Also, I don't think that everone that has their car detailed wants everybody in the world know how much they paid, especially their wives! LOL Do you see where Im going with this? I hope this clears up some of the questions you have. Id be more than happy to answer any questions you have and go more in-depth about this if youd like. Best regards, ~Rick
I'll go on the record as saying Rick is one of the best detailers you're going to find! He has worked on all my cars for the last 7 or 8 years. Like he said, the pricing is always a little different, but always fair and worth it. Also, Rick, I just got a black metallic 328 that I'm going to need detailed in the next couple weeks. And if it helps some guys here, I would be glad to let you post pics / pricing info when you are done.
thanks for the response. PM'ed you back. i see all those crazy posts on autopia, and i know i will never have the patience to do that kind of work. hopefully, i can find someone of your caliber (if not you), to work on my cars.
Rick is the best there is!!! The work he did on my 993 C2S (featured in the first thread above) has held up for more than a year now and I've done nothing but wash it.
