My car (98 Audi A4) has always had a weird smell to it, so naturally im always trying to figure out ways to get rid of it. I’ve replaced mats, shampooed carpets, etc. etc. I’m pretty sure the smell is coming from my air/cons filter but that’s beside the point. My genius detailing idea of the day was to get fabric softener sheets, the kind you put in the dryer, and put em under my mats. So far its working good. When I used to work at a detailing place I always hated using chemicals of any kind on the interiors of cars. I’m a firm believer that the only thing that should be used on the inside is water, vinyl cleaner and or leather cleaner (both of which should be used sparingly). It’s amazing how much crap people buy to help them clean the interiors of their cars when imo all they really need is the three aforementioned items.

Anyways, just wanted to share. Have a good weekend everyone,
    Ry

There are aeresol sprays designed to kill this bacteria in the vents which causes wierd/musty smells in the cabin. You attach it to the intake line, run the system in recirc until you've sprayed enough into the system, cap the line and allow the system to recirc with windows up for a few minutes (can't remember exact time). Then, ventilate and treat again and it kills the bacteria and mold growing. It will make your dryer sheets last longer too. ;)

Sorry, not a 'genius detailing idea of the day'!

Most people put them under the seats.

Anyway, thanks for mentioning it. :)

I believe the A4 has an A/C filter. Might want to try replacing yours.
