    Hey everyone,

I am looking to replace the Fan/Hazard/Wiper and Aerial switch plates on my 1980 Ferrari 308 GTSi however I have come across a few issues in determining the correct artwork for plates.

I looked at the Unscratchable Switch Plates from Unobtainium Supplies on this site however none of the artwork available matched what was fitted to my car.

I found that the FHWA2 plates from ItalianCarParts.com match exactly however I have read that these reproductions do not match the quality of the OEM items and the artwork is also incorrect for this plate.

I wanted to know if anyone could help me identify the correct plates that should be fitted to my car. I am in Australia but my car was originally US delivered and was manufactured in September 1980.

I have spoken to Verell from Unobtainium Supplies and he mentioned that my car may have previously been fitted with the ItalianCarParts.com FHWA2 plate however my plates seem to have worn consistently with the rest of the interior. Is there any way of telling an OEM plate from a reproduction?

I have attached photos of the plates that are currently fitted to my car. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Mark:

Scans of my original plates from my 82.

Just looking at these, the fan blades are different. And the wipe speed graphic is slightly different.

Also, I have included a picture of my original AC bezel. I haven't seen your style before. There is an 80 on ebay now and its like mine.

So perhaps someone had messed with those at some point. I can say that I replaced both of my trim bezels. Although they are not perfect (the reproductions), they are so close that I don't think 99.9% of the population can pick out the differences. I would just go for new all the way around there.

Thanks for the reply. Which kind of reproductions did you use?

I don't think there is a difference other than temperature. The user manual says:

The range of regulation of the thermostat is divided in two areas, painted in white and blue, which indicate the most suitable positions corresponding to:

    - Constant High Speed (On Highways)
    - Low Speed (In Town or Heavy Traffic)

I think it is more of a guide for which settings to use in those conditions.

Italian Car Parts for the AC plate.
    Ricambi for the switch plates.

I agree about placing the AC control based on air flow across the condenser. It essentially adjusts how long the compressor runs. Also if followed will help if your evaporator is freezing up.
