I just purchased my 360, and the previous owner told me that the dealership flashed his TCU with some 'much better' version of the software. It almost sounds as if they reflashed it with the CS software, as it sounds like some people have done - my question is, is there a way to determine which version software you have? I'm not talking about on the actual TCU itself, since it could have been flashed, but maybe via OBD2 or something similar? I imagine I could take it to the dealership and the SD2 could determine it, but just wondering if there was something I could just do myself? Thanks!

I can think of a couple ways to tell if it hasn't been flashed. Earlier year TCU's couldn't be updated through OBD2 so the only way to flash them would be to physically remove the chip and flash it. The TCU is sealed with a black rubberlike compound and it's pretty easy to tell if your box has ever been opened up. So if you have one of the older part numbers and your box doesn't look tampered with you don't have a flash. If you have a newer part number I have no idea.

None of the TCU's fitted to the 360 are flash programmable. They have to be opened up and a chip with software embedded fitted. The 430 tcu IS programmable.

I don't think that's accurate. I've read that the later cars went through several TCU software updates done through OBD2. When I spoke with my dealer they told me mine couldn't be updated but if I had a newer car it could. Regardless, if you have stradale software it should be obvious from just driving the car.

The software updates you speak of involves TCU replacement. You can't flash them, they have no provision to do it. The late level TCU's 2003 onwards were the best of the bunch next to the CS tcu. 1999 units had no PIS adjustment and were hard on clutches. 2003 onwards were much better. CS are the best of the lot, i have customers with CS tcu's that have done 30k or more on a clutch.
