Is there a database that lists the origional Ferrari color of a particular VIN?

On the stolen/recovered Mondial t, I assumed that it was always white over red with black convertible top.

On the damaged paint, noticed there was some red under the white. I just assumed that Ferrari used a red primer.

However, one reader e-mailed me (thanks!) that in a 1992 ad it was listed as red with tan interior. This could be a misprint. Will have to look closely at the paint when I get back to DE/PA (currently in Detroit).

My car looks exactly like a 1990 Mondial t white over red with black cab top that is for sale.

The Car Fax said there were 2 owners before me. With current information, it looks like there might have been 3 owners before me.

The second owner before me was a lady. I know she had some interior work done. The owner before me (we became friends) only had it for about a year.

So wondering what the origional color was?

The paint is damaged enough that it will probably require a complete paint job. The interior has damage but do not know the costs yet.

I like the current colors. However, if the origional color was red over tan with black cab top, will consider changing it back to origional. Like both very much so it will be a hard decision.

Do not yet have the numbers and details from Algar's. First have to determine exactly in what condition the car is in, then can decide what course(s) of action to take.

Of course, Ferrari has a record.

Maybe if you beg and plead with them they will divulge the information.

The site www.owners.ferrari.com may be able to provide a starting point.

Since I am still saving my pennies for a car I am interested in the process of determining the original colour.

Please update us with your progress as time permits.

    Good Luck.

FNA will help you if you ask. I called them back in 02 about my 308. They faxed me a form that asked several questions including the engine and transmission #'s on my car. A few weeks later I recieved a nice letter from Enzo Francesconi with the info I requested. I got color, options, build date (Jan 30 1984), USA shipment date (Feb 24 1984), dealer, etc. Lots of cool stuff. I framed the letter.
