Who here has had the operation to fix their nose? What were your expectations, recovery, pain, was it worth it ?

I broke my nose when I was 15, and ever since I am prone to sinus infections, sinus headaches, constant draining of the sinuses into the throat, etc... I am thinking about having this procedure done but don't know anyone who has. Thanks in advance..

I had my nose crushed 12 months ago and while straight I did find that I was sneezing a lot {6 months or so} and a running/ itchy nose. One passage is narrower than it used to be and I'm told that's where the problems came from. Everything is fine now though.

Talk to your doctor and make an appointment through him to see someone who can give you a definite answer.

I had it done something like 12 years ago, simply because I couldn't breathe through my nose, especially at night. I had to sleep with one hand holding my nose in the special position where air could get through.

I talked with a number of people who had had it done, or knew friends or family members who had had it done. There was a tremendous range of opinions: "Oh, it was the worst thing I've ever had done!" , or "Oh, there was nothing to it." In my case, it went really easily. The only problem was that my nose started bleeding REALLY badly in post-op, which was scary. I've never had blood flow out of me like that! It was OK in a few minutes.

I still have some of the same problem. If I had to breathe only through one nostril (either one), I would suffocate very quickly.

I had this done when I was in college.
I was awake but they gave me a little red capsule and I didn't care what they did to me.

During the operation it sounded like my the inside of my head was being torn and chiseled apart.

the recovery was unremarkable except when the doctor removed the packing. there was a hundred miles of gauze in there. It was not pleasant. Get a bullet to bite on.

Coughed up blood and scabs for a week or two.

It worked. I can breathe and my headaches went away.

    I'd have it done again.

Funny I broke my nose when I was 16. Got into a fight, not a big surprize those that know me. Anyhow I broke it on friday and they made me wait till monday to do the procedure. They knocked me out with some really nice cocain in a needle and I woke up a few hours later with a straight nose. I felt no pain. I asked the doctor how they fixed it and they said with Chopsticks.. And they were not kidding.. JJ

Yeah, I will. Thanks. Due to my work however, I probably won't be able to do it for a few more months, prob. around end of June.

Thanks for the replies so far, anyone else ?
