I previously posted this query asking for recommendations for good Dallas-area lawyers... got one response (thanks, Jim!)... but thought many of the DFW contingent might not frequent the Business & Investments forum... so, I thought I'd try here. ======== I am about to form a new company... for which I will need to find a good law firm to: 1) Set up the company, advising on structure (LP vs Corp, etc.) 2) General business contracts, NDAs, sales contracts, etc. 3) File trademarks 4) File patents 5) Defend patents and trademarks The latter is, of course, where patent law firms separate themselves... its one thing to get a patent filed... its entirely another to successfully defend that patent... until you litigate and win, the rubber hasn't really hit the road. Can anyone recommend a great Dallas-area law firm? Opinions on Fish & Richardson? Opinions on Baker Botts? Opinions on Haynes and Boone? Opinions on Thompson & Knight? Can anyone recommend a particular Dallas-area lawyer who is particularly good? What's more important... to find the right individual lawyer (independent of firm) or to find the the right law firm (independent of which lawyer)? For a company that is starting out small, how important is it to find one law firm that can handle all business issues? (versus selecting an IP specialist) Finally, how important is it that the firm we choose NOT represent any of the companies that the principals of this new company have previously been employed (on the off chance there is a IP dispute causing a conflict of interest)??
