Greetings. The 2006 FCA calendar is shaping up pretty quickly. The 4th Annual Poker Run will run on Saturday, April 29 The 3rd Annual Strade Di Autunno will run on Saturday, Oct 21 Those two dates are fixed. The 3rd Annual DFW/FCA Exotic Car Show at Boardwalk will take place in May or June, the exact date is still to be determined. 2nd Tuesdays Nights and 1st Wednesday Lunches have remained popular and should stay on the calendar. Likewise, I think both the Fine Dining Events and Exotic Car Nights need to stay. There's no F1 gatherings on the calendar simply because there's no schedule yet for 2006. I haven't heard a date yet for the FCA Regional Meet, so it's not on there either. We would love feedback on the proposed schedule, either through PMs or on this thread. If you're interested in some type of activity that isn't on here, we'll talk about it. If you're interested in organizing any of this activity, please contact me. I say we continue the 2nd Tuesdays. If nothing else, just to give us an excuse to get out once a month! The only reason I haven't been in the last 4 months is that I always seem to be out of town.
So are the Wednesday lunches, but this was predictable when you go from around 20 events a year to 32+. This past summer I kinda assumed everyone in the club was aware of the monthly events, so I didn't push them as hard on the email list. We might have been loosing a few people because of that. Some need a reminder week before, day before, and hour before. Speedzone and Dave & Busters are fine, but I think TBC was the best when you organized trophies and everything. That motivated everyone to get out there each month. Haven't I heard there is another cart place opening up? Some chapters have much success with a monthly breakfast and maybe short drive, but I never pushed this because I'm either sleeping in or getting up before dawn to hunt, fish, or race. Not to eat breakfast. IMHO I think keep the monthly events up. Lunches seem to get the best turnout when located West Dallas/Las Colinas. Everyone can usually make those. For Second Tuesdays I'm not sure if just a straight happy hour/dinner now and then would be more popular? Just kicking ideas around, we need to reach out beyond the FC crowd. I think Tillman has already thought of some good ideas to do just that.
I got my FCA monthly mailing, and I didn't see our area events like I usually do. Did they forget us?
Not sure the last time I sent them in, we have to tell them ahead of time. Usually I just send them the entire year or at least 6 months at a time. Tillman, FYI that our chapter gets so many free ad space (the big blocks) in the newsletter. We should use that to promote our larger events.
If you don't move Feb 14, no one but FD will show. Women seem to like that day, although I don't know any men that do. Maybe we do it Wed the 15th?
What does everyone think about the Saturday, June 3rd for the 3rd Annual FCA DFW Boardwalk Car Show? This year was first weekend in June, did that work for everyone? The turnout was really good.
Puts two events on back to back weekends. Fine Dining on the 27th, car show the following week. Is that an issue?
OK, I talked to Greg Minor at Boardwalk. Saturday, June 3rd is the date. For the most part similar to last year. However, with this being the only event I am organizer for and Greg highly motivated after he saw the success last year, then we'll be putting a little more effort into this and seeing what happens.
What do y'all think of swapping the August Fine Dining with the November Exotic Car night? There'd be more light for checking out the cars, and if the weather's nasty in Nov we'd be inside. It would give us back-to-back ECNs in July and August, but I'm not sure that's a problem
