I was thinking about making a run to the big half-price books store on NW Hwy sometime this weekend... has anyone ever looked for old Cavallinos or Forza issues there? Any luck?

There is one pretty close to work, at 183 and beltline, and one in arlington on Cooper that I check out every once in a while... they never have anything except a few R&T's, C&D's and loads of ricer magazines. I'll be interested to hear if the one on hulen has anything. But I suspect, if HPB has any at all, they'll have them at that monster NW Hwy store.

David, I don't think you'll have any luck with either mag at HPB. I've been going there regularly for a long time and have never seen Forza or Cavallino. They have a few car books but general automotive selection there is poor.

I buy new Cavallino at B&N across from Northpark and I think they have Forza there also--used to get it at Borders before I subscribed.

Ebay seems to be the best place to get used Cavallinos.

Just got back from B&N off cooper in Arlington, they sell Cavallino, but not Forza. I get Forza from Frys.

Speaking of magazines, my TDM is AWOL. Anybody else?

I concur that you'll never find old issues of "Cavallino" or "Forza" at HPB. I go to HPB at least twice a month looking for autographed books. Sometimes the HPB clerks do not look carefully when people sell books to HPB. So I have bought several books autographed for as little as $2. I look in the magazine and automotive sections every time, no "Forza" or "Cavallino."

Any time you see relatively rare car mags you want at HPB, best grab them or they will be gone. There was a stack of one of the glossy, expensive Brit classic/sports mags there not too long ago, disappeared at the speed of light. I've gotten two or three decent Ferrari-subject hardbounds there over a period of several years. About 15 years ago I was browsing at their old NW Highway location and found a true collector book on another subject for $4.00, was momentarily indecisive, went to the restroom, and when I got back it was gone.

Holey Schnikey, I hit a small HPB Ferrari Jackpot this afternoon!

Had an early evening appointment in North Arlington so I went to the Lincoln Square HPB afterwards. I found the bottom two items in this pic.

The bottom left is a special edition magazine titled Consumer Guide Classic Car series, dated October of 1983. Was this the predecessor to Consumer reports? This is a seriously cool magazine, great photos and no advertisements.

The top two are other Ferrari books I've picked up at HPB in the past.

I paid around 6 bucks for each one of these books.

    I love HPB. :)

Keep in mind that today was a holiday.

Dave, nice find. The HPB over by me didn't have any Ferrari related books.

Those are nice books. Occasionally you hit the jackpot at HPB; jump when you do!
