Not only are there a gazillion pickups (as expected), but they are all towing trailers. Trailers! Trailers! Trailers! I should forget law practice and just sell steel trailers.

Either that, or they have tools, or propane tanks or other work items in the back. OR large rolls of carpet and other materials hanging off the back of the bed, with or without a red flag tied to the end.

This is a very industrious place!

It was actually alot funnier when there were only a couple terminals, in the proper shape. I remember it from an old MAD magazine feature that made stick figures out of airport layouts. DFW Airport was made to look like a cowboys cheerleader, with two of the terminals making up her bosoms.

    Pick your favorite!

I am going to try really hard to find that MAD magazine now.

Edit: If anybody cares, it was this issue:
    http://www.collectmad.com/madcoversite/mad331.html

The piece was "Al Jaffee -- Airport Maps Reveal What Cities Are Really Famous For"

Forget law practice when you look at the Bar Journal issue which lists all the recent bar grads which is page after page and in the back the attorney wanted ads don't even take up one column!

Go for the trailers! Texas has 1.2 million horses (comprising 15% of horses nationwide) with an overall impact of 5.2 billion to the TX economy. So . . have a truck dealership which doubles as a trailer dealership/repair shop - support the horse folks (I have 45 of those 1.2 million:) sell us our fancy pop-out living quarter aluminum trailers, the motorcross (big in TX) folks like the trailers where you live in front and the entire back opens where you contain your motorcycles; the list goes on . . . you could even sell motorcycles - a ONE STOP shopping center - you could be the next generation "Walmart" (you'll need all the necessities for the trailer too).

Hey guys - hadn't ever thought about the DFW road system quite like your commentary but you are right :)

That airport pic had to have been taken in the 1960s, there has been SOOOOO much development around there since then.

Speaking of DFW Airport, I spent the summer of 1971 out there when it was just a rockpile. We layed all the utilities, which included 120" diameter concrete pipes 40' deep under the runways for drainage. The lines of pipe were sometimes a mile long to get to the nearest creek to drain into. It was just Holloway Construction running their twin engine scrapers moving millions of cubic yards of dirt and rock, and us, so I knew every trail out there by the end of the summer. That fall, during pledgeship, we took an active out there and dumped him in the middle of the job without shoes and socks. We paid the price the next saturday morning, but it was worth it! Here are a couple of old ditchdigging pics. A lot simpler times back then.

Cool, those pictures look almost familiar. I worked out there in the early 80's during summer off from college. I was on a surveying crew for Zachry, and we were laying in a bunch of new roads around the perimeter of the airport, and other stuff.

The weird thing is, with those trucks, they are usually the only ones that want to stay right alongside you. They will tail you for miles, long after the rice-burners and others have left.
