What great pics!!!! My dad raced at the Valley almost every weekend in the mid to late 60s. A pale yellow 55 c/gas chevy he called the "Double Deuce". Mom ran there too for a time driving I believe a f/stock mustang of Dub Shaw Ford. I would be great if any of you have any pictures or stories. Dad also ran at Wichita Falls, Cedar Hill, and Kennedale, and street raced at the "Air Base" (wherever that was). He was a member of the "Shifters" car club and a tech man for the early Texas Timing Asso. In the late 60s he ran a b/g anglia in the Texas Pro Anglia Circuit.

The Anglia was my favorite drag body back in the 60's. Built a Revell model of one, and still think a Pro-street Anglia would be cool.

I remember the C/G '55. I think I may have it on an old 8mm reel that I transferred over to DVD. I believe it was at the NHRA regionals back about 1967 or 68 in Abilene....

Did you ever run the car under the name "Lemonade"? I remember that name also.

No,,, that must have come after dad sold it. He sold it sometime around 1969 when he and Charles Payne bought the anglia. We tried to find it years later, but no luck.

Greetings. In my ongoing research on Green Valley, I've found a couple of links that frequenters of this thread might like.

This one is a set of pics at Webshots that were taken February 14, 1965, when Ken Miles won Shelby's first race with a GT 350R.

    http://rides.webshots.com/album/571765918lPWaSt

This next one is first of a series of YouTube videos entitled : Vintage Drag Racing - Texas
There are 9 videos submitted by Chevyrat39, the films are titled Rebels Car Club S.A. TX. I can identify Pt. 4 and up as being at Green Valley. The earliest seem to be from the late 50's. Don't know which dragstrip. Vintage Drag Racing - Texas Pt 7 is I.D.'d as Green Valley Raceway 66/67. The films are really good quality as are the cars and background tunes.

Nick, that Ken Miles road race link was great! That parking lot
full of amazing cars like that cobra and Gran Sport vette really takes me back to "the Valley" Was that Dallas' own Delmo Johnson's car? That or a Mecum car out of Houston.

The drags link was good, but wish they had sound back then to hear the cars.

I was at Dallas when this event took place. I remember the crash well with Schwartz and Pat Foster. I have some video of it somewhere. Schwartz was very much the victim here as Pat Foster crossed over the center line into the lane of Schwartz who was much slower than the Mickey Thompson Mustang of Foster..........

Forgot 2 others. For Trans-Am fans, here's about a minute of video of the 1967 Green Valley 300. Starts at 1:30 mark, cool Lemans start and they ran counter-clockwise. Is this still the closest Trans-Am finish?

For 60's drag fans there's this, Vintage Dragsters of the '60's:

As far as my rFactor sim Green Valley re-creation goes, the current version is flat out wrong. If I'd read the article I posted, #101, I would have realized the north end of the circuit ran through the pits. My original reference was the USGS topo map and a couple of maps from track database sites, na-motorsports and etracksonline. See attached. Were races run over the ravine and those 2 bridges? Seems kind of dangerous. Also found a nice aerial overview.

Those trees at the left side of the photo about even with crossover bridge were my favorite place to pit when there.........At least had a little bid of shade in the Texas summers.......

There are three new videos up at YouTube of 60's drag racing at Green Valley.
They're titled "Green Valley Raceway, Vintage Drag Racing"

Ravages of time has affected some of the film but there's pretty good footage of the "Hemi Under Glass". Gassers including Ohio George, Big John and K S Pittman.

Great job Nick finding these video's ! Those Anglia's and other gassers were awesome.
I did see the Hemi under Glass, as well as the Little Red Wagon out there. Seeing the white office and drink stand brought back memories too of those casual pits back in the day. Keep up the good work.

I was there when the third video was made. I was across the track making my own video that day. I really liked the K.S. Pittman car then. I was too young to be competing then but would come back in a few years in an altered roadster to run too.

I loved running at that track. Thanks for posting. I have one video I had transferred onto DVD from 8mm. It too has very poor video quality at the beginning. I will see if I can figure out how to post it on Youtube..........

I use a program called AVS Video Converter 6. It allows you to convert video to different formats. I used it to convert a Meadowdale DVD to an AVI and that Green Valley "Cougar Country" YouTube FLV to AVI. It also allowed me to do frame captures of that Green Valley FLV for reference. Has tons of uses. You can edit, add soundtrack, special effects, transitions, etc. It's very useful.

Amazing stuff shows up from time to time DIGMAN25.

AFA my track for rFactor goes, I'm pretty much starting from scratch. Turns out my first attempt was pretty close but I was relying on my 3D elevation map too much. The DEM I got was 10 M X & Y axis and .01 M Z but the averaging out between XY points gave me bad height data. I had the very North end way too high and a little short in distance . Between that and the paucity of good pictures at the North end threw me off. I originally thought the T-A race ran clockwise and that shot I posted earlier from SCG http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=137478755&postcount=101 was taken from a different place. Thought it was red arrow direction but was actually blue direction, first graphic.

Google Earth has aerials from 1993 (black & white) and 2001 (color) and really don't help much with what was grass or a parking lot/track. That Cougar Caper Pt 2 video helped a lot, elevation-wise. It shows the 2 trees and power pole at the 2:24 mark just like in my second composite graphic at the bottom of the pic.

I've got all the structures built so basically I re-loft the track and add the stuff.
