Going back to my 60’s drag racing roots, I bought a new Charger Hellcat yesterday. The thrust and sound of 707hp is intoxicating! Plus it holds 4 comfortably. You locals will remember my smokey burnouts at lunches in 2006 in the SRT8 Charger. Twice the power of that one. Purrs around town until you unleash the Beast. 8sp auto ready to shift down anytime. Now we just need a fun run night at the drags with Brian R. and one of his drag cars. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
LOVE the color ! Congrats sir! I might know where a Demon might be that would go down to Ennis with ya! S
That would be awesome Steve ! Been lusting for a Demon, but not wiling to pay $30k over sticker. My buddy described the color as the old Candy Apple Red. I think he hit it on the nose.
It is weekend for now. My daughter wants to buy my 1 yr old Q7 Audi at some point, so it may be my daily then too. Possible Shady's this saturday with Smitty ?
I knew you would like it Chris ! Just need to get to 500 miles so my Tire Frying can start. It really drives smooth and somewhat quiet until you ask for more, and then all hell breaks loose. The sticky Summer Tires definately help getting it to hook up.
Maybe, but it hasn't stopped me from full throttle blasts in 1st and 2nd. Just kinda taking it easy on 1/4 mile style runs.. Will holler at you Saturday if I get up that way. One of the coolest software items is the timing devices. 0-60, 0-100, 1/8th mile, 1/4 mile, top speed, highest speed car has gone since reset, and a track function with laptimes, etc. On the drag style runs, there is a countdown clock on the dash, with your reaction time given, and you can add a shift light as well. Suspension and tranny are all set up for 3 modes, and a custom mode you set. This thing is going to be epic fun ! Here's my original drag racer. 1966 Buick Skylark Gran Sport. 401 Nailhead engine with 325 hp, but with either 425 or 455 lbs torque. I forget which. 2 speed Powerglide transmission with posi-trac hooked up great out of the hole, but when you shifted from 1st to 2nd between 65 and 70mph, it was a hard pull with high gearing from there. Ran a best of 14.92 in 1970 with it, and beat Mickey Mantle Junior in his Boss 302 in it my senior year at Hillcrest. In those days, anything under 15.0 flat was quick, and only a couple of the hottest cars on Forest Lane dipped into the 13's. The Hellcat is supposed to do a 11.0 flat 1/4 mile in the 120's. Can't wait to get in front of that Christmas Tree again. The GS won it's ET Bracket 2 weekends in a row in 1970 at Dallas International Motor Speedway in Lewisville, and pocketed me $100 each time. You dialed in your time to not go under, and were handicapped against faster and slower cars. I consistently ran within a few hundreds of a second, so I lost, it was on me.
