Does anyone know if any 2001 year Diablo's 6.0's were fitted with Murcielago engines? If so, does anyone know how many were made?

A friend of mine has a 2001 6.0. He told me that he was having some work done on his engine and they ordered Diablo engine parts. Turns out they did not fit. When the mechanic looked into it, the engine serial number is a Murcielago engine number. They ordered Murcielago parts and they fit. The engine is supposedly original to the car. His Diablo is within the last 30 built of the 6.0 versions. So unless they replaced the engine, his car should not be the only one with a Murcielago engine. We were wondering if the use of Murcielago engines was routine on the 2001 Diablo's and perhaps how many of them have it.

    Thanks.

It was not a dealer that was doing the work.

FWIK the engine block is slightly different than the Diablo, so if you change the engine to a 6.2L, you'd need the entire Murcie driveline, didn't think the Old Diablo 5 speed would bolt straight onto the 6.2L.
