    I'm taking my 99 Diablo Roadster on a trip and was wondering what I can expect for gas mileage so I can plan my fuel stops. I ask this because I'm anticipating poor numbers and don't want to get stranded. (wife would lose it!) I know it depends on speed so let's use 70-80mph as an average speed.

    I usually get around 10-12mpg when I'm giving it the beans - but this is a rough estimate as you really don't get consistent fill ups as the wierd design of the filler neck doesn't allow auto shut-offs at the same point every time.

    WOW...I average 200 miles at least between fill ups..

    As far as the filling, I turn the nozzel up side down into the neck..never have a problem that way.

    I've heard that a million times.........doesn't work on my car or anyone else's Diablo that I know of. Anyway, a "9-O'clock" position seems to work the best for mine, but you have to
    barely squeeze the trigger.

    If i ever get better than 12 MPG i know i should of just drove the Mini!!

    I think its based on the brand of pump/nozzle which I suspect is a regional thing especially in CA which has a lot of different vapor recovery nozzles. The upside down thing work for me sometimes.

    Regardless, whatever brand of pump is normally used at my Chevrons works the best for me.

    Yea,when I am in Cali it is worst..it seems the nozzel vapor recovery has a trigger click on it..not like that here in Washington..also I use Chevrom as well..maybe it is like Mick says the brand and type the different stations use.

    LOL yours is worst due the extra wieght of those Hawaiian print seat covers..

    AND as a fully traffic law abiding citizen...mine is based on 55MPH as required on most Fedral funded hiways LOL

    Dear Lamborghinisti,

    I get about 13 mpg on the interstate driving at the posted limit of 70 mph.

    ....about the nozzle....UGH ! what a pain! I don't care what position....it doesn't work.

    I have to squeeze the trigger in, then release to a bare minimum flow. It just takes forever!


    I find older pumps work better but newer Citgo ones click off constantly.

    In FL. we don't have the vapor recovery crinkle hose like those in CA. ...and still it takes forever.

    ....I tried this....but wasn't any better...... :D
