It is all about the cheaper up keeping costs and insurance, even though that kind of money for a replica is ridiculous.

Not only that but there are a few of them that are more than capable of out performing a real one and then some.

In the words of Eric Cartman; "That's super, hella, mega gay!"

The guy obviously spent that much money and is trying to make it back, and it appears that intelligent people are out there and not buying the car.

I have seen a couple of nice gallardo replicas, but they are not publized(Audi will sue).

The original owner of the car built the replica himself. He is trying to make a huge profit. Some people's greed can be unbelieveable!

I can't imagine that the BMW V-12 is much less expensive to maintain. The 850's are known for having high maint. costs.

The funny thing about these idiots with very detailed kits, is that they NEVER figure the time they invested in the entire project. They just total all the receipts up, and never figure any of the time they spent.

In the end the kit, will bring nothing close, to the total (actual) cost. Keep bringing up how reliable the thing is ! Guess what ? The real thing can be reliable also !! ...and much more economical, than some plastic fake toy.

That's just one of the reasons why I can't figure out why he dropped a BMW 12 in it.

It does look pretty nice for a kit but thank goodness nobody was stupid enough to buy it. Time ran out with 0 bids.

That's a well done replica, although I would never pay that much for it.

I do not know about replicas being posted on exclusive Lamborghini websites. I am sure there may be some. I doubt many L owners, would devote much (serious) time to replica pics, that have been posted on an L site. Usually such replica pics, have been posted for amusement purposes.

A replica (kit) is a slap in the face, to the owner of the real thing. If one cannot settle for the real thing, they should choose a less expensive genuine alternative. There are quite a few nice cars, that I cannot even consider. However I have no desire, to try and obtain a replica of the real item.

As far as the kit owners themselves, they often spend more and more money, in the quest of faking the novice, into the false illusion, that they are driving the genuine automobile. It starts with a person buying a basic kit, and usually the kit owner begins to spend more and more on items such as genuine emblems, seats, dash, and other items etc..., that are designed to fool the novice, that the car is a geniune factory automobile. Most often the replica owner, will hope that nobody asks them to open the engine bonnet.

As far as the idiots who construct the replicas ? - They are fooling themselves with the hope, that they have choosen a much more affordable economic route. - This is not the case. They have choosen a much more expensive route, in their hope to obtain an exotic car. When it comes time to sell the replica, they will end up losing tens of thousands of dollars. - (These are for the replicas, that someone has taken a lot of effort, in an attempt to build a car to fool the novice enthusiast (not the replica car where it is a 16K complete project)).

It would have been much better to purchase a mint used Diablo or Testarossa etc..., and have kept the car for a few years, and sold the car for the same price (or better), less the cost of the maintainance. If the car was a superb mechanical car, it will NOT be a maintainance problem. The good mechanical cars, do not require a lot of maintainance. The owner of the used genuine exotic, will lose the cost of the maintainance.

The replica owner will lose a very large cost of the kit, additional genuine factory parts, and of course the time devoted to complete the kit. 9/10 replica kit owners who complete their project, do not figure the time required into the total cost. In the end, their desire to save money, will not bring any economic benefit over the cost of the real thing. They actually spend more money, vs the buyer of a superb mechanical genuine exotic car.
