Stock fan air flow can't keep up with heavy use on track... My 92 Diablo 2 WD has recently new Radiators, water Valve, pump, water censer but still during track use for a few laps of running and change gears back and forth at 7,000 rpm. The temperature go up to 100c and never come down. The stock fan can't bring the temp down. I am thinking about upgrading the radiator fan to a higher speed. Please advise, What is air flow of stock radiator fan of the Diablo 92. Would stock radiator fan of the newer models of the Diablo give higher fan speed, like the SV or GT models? Or i better off going with the race use radiator fan...

    Google "Spal fans".

They were OEM for the Countach and may be original equipment for the Diablo.

If you check out the various fans on the site, you may be able to find some that are the same size, have the same bolt up pattern as your original but flow a higher volume of air (cfm).

Depending on the size, cfm and amperage draw, you may even be able to find one that cools your engine better AND draws less power from your alternator.

Raymond QV from this site has an excellent site for Countach with a special section for Spal fans. google Countach.ch and scroll down to the section marked " HEAT PROBLEM curing with stronger SPAL fans". Even though it is for a Countach there are some great photos and specifications that you may be able to use as a guideline for you Diablo.

    Best of luck.

    Here I am...

    http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.aspx

has the fans online, the problem are not related to the fans, if you have an older 2wd without the upgraded cooling system you have always hot air in the engine.
Check how many bleeding lines you have, there should be at least 4 going to the expansion bottle.

The fans have a little sticker on the motor you can read from outside through the grill, this number indicates the fan size and how much flow it provides. Normally the early diablo have the same like the 25th Countach = VA01 AP6 36A, the new version of this one is VA01-AP70-36A (2780m3/h using 16,5A). http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.aspx?p=itemdetail&item=30102038

The VA01-AP90/VLL-66A has 10% more flow but consumes 6A more current:
    http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.aspx?p=itemdetail&item=30103202

When you check the website take car to select only the correct size and the correct voltage (thay have 12 and 24V units).
AP** = 12V, BP**= 24V, at the end A=puller, S=pusher, you need AP and A at the end.

Here an overview of all 12" fans: http://www.countach.ch/Images/12V-d305.pdf

    Thank you for the advice...

At the moment, i am looking at these fans..Spal and Kenlowe. the Kenlowe give a little more airflow...

still deciding which to go with...

Just talked to my mechanic, he mentioned that the 4 bleed hoses are standard for the VT model but he can add these 4 bleed hoses to my 2 wd also.

How are the fan in your diablo, how is it working..?

I have no diablo, a Countach QV instead, not much difference in those areas...

Better install more bleeding lines since that is the weak point in the early diablo cooling system.

The SPAL has the advantage that it's just plug and play, but the kenlowe seems to have better numbers, in the end that doesn't matter to much since the limiting factor is the flow through the radiator net.

I can`t find the CFM flow # `s of these fans, and I am short on cash so I went to Pep boys ( don`t laugh at me ) and bought 2 Hayden rapid cool 14 dia fans , they pull 1250 CFM , and were $ 70 dollars each, I mounted them up to the radiator no shroud, I will let you know how I make out, its over 90 degrees outside and i drive kind of hard, high rpm + stuff .

Can't wait to hear how your set up turn out... The fans I ordered will not arrive and be installed in another two weeks... I will let you know how it turns out.. but for sure, stock fans are out dated and can't keep temp low during hard driving...

Could you do a write-up and take pictures of the addition of the bleeding lines?
I'd like to know from where to where to add them. In what material are those lines?

I have been driving for 2 weeks now with the 14 inch fans mounted up to the radiator, I removed the stock fan shroud, We had a few days at 95 degrees temperature and the car runs cool, it never goes near the little boxes on the guage,,it stays between half way and 3/4 `s up on the guage, and that is stuck in trafffic, and local driving, also running through the gears,so far I limit it to 7,000 rpm ,( car is flying by then, ) So i`d say they worked great, but I have not had it on a track with constant high RPm`s , but I think its good .
