of approx. 3,000 diablos produced since 91 to 01 (given take a couple)... 1-how many were specifically U.S cars? 2-how many of these US cars are left today in this country? 3-what is the remaining number of 6.0 left in the US (unmolested)?....lastly, 4-how many diablos were "imported" (i.e gray market cars) into the US? i have observed a steady and noticable appreciation of diablo prices over the past 6 months along with the rise in its interest and popularity. this trend will likely continue. the price spread b/w the diablo 6.0 vs. murci continues to narrow and will likely be inverted at some point. this s/d balance sheet might shed an interesting insight into the future market mechanism vs. present value and provide a price discovery tool for those who are in the market for one of these rare and limited production cars. any thoughts?
I have over the last year tried to figure out my favorite car as I am extremely blessed to have the Diablo and Murcie. After driving the Diablo, I want more and more as there seems to be a draw back to the car. To me the Murcie is so refined that it is just a fast refined rocket...Almost too civilized. One F-chatter put it this way: The Diablo is like the Racer while the Murcie is like the Beast.(Kings Island Rides) Roy (Catsexotics) is seeing price appreciation in the Diablo market and I trust his opinion as he is very informed.
Maybe I'm having a blonde moment, but what is s/d balance sheet? I'm assuming these are finance terms? I'm just not familiar.
agree wholeheartedly w/ roy's assessment. don't think it will be long before we see nice clean 6.0 trades at a premium to a 02 or 03 murcie (with everything being equal). does anyone know how many 6.0 diablos are left in the country?
I think that the 6.0 has been on the upswing for a while- when I looked, over a year ago, the 6.0 was about the same as a discounted, slightly used (and to my eyes, lightly abused) '04. According to Lambo Registry, 260 6 litre cars were produced-w/w (don't know if that includes the SE- assume it does not). What's your guess- slightly better than half went to the States, and with crashes and whatnot, maybe 110 units floating around Stateside?
About 104 according to AJ's post here: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=134997300&postcount=18 So less than 100 US ones now assuming the only wrecked ones are from 2006. I wouldn't be surprised if there are less than 90 US ones remaining.
I would figure there are less than 100 6.0s in the US. Of those, I would say that 1/3 have had at least a body panel painted. And figure half of all the 6.0s have had some sort of modification, being either wheels, exhaust, etc. That being said, there are probably less than 35 unpainted, unmolested, original 6.0s out there. And guess what??? The factory isn't making any more!! I would say that you could buy a 6.0 today, drive it 2500-3500 miles, take good care if it, and get all your money back a year from now, and perhaps make $5k or so.
Wow, 90 something left, I am glad I have two in my garage.( one titanium, one pearl yellow just pick up from Roy )
dave, of those 90 left, perhaps only a few are "red"... i sure am glad i have one of less than a handful, pure, original and unmolested orange 6.0....
When I was looking there were always the yellows but seldom any red. Once I found a flawlwss red car I jumped on it. I was actually was beaten out of the deal at first by two hours. The deal was not progressing as stated in their contract and I was given a change as I had a back-up offer tendered. The rest is history. BTY if an orange one in my car's shape had come along, I would have an orange Diablo. Alot of Lamborghini colors need to be seen in person as photographs do not represent the color accurately.
The 6.0 here in Canada is still a $275,000 car. They really haven't had any real fall in price at all. Heck 91 Diablo's are grabbing 130-160k here also. I can see the market doing a huge shift towards Lambo. They have some serious cars with serious looks. Ferrari had better be on the look out. Cars like the Jalpa, CT, Diablo etc I have noticed in the last little while, have started to climb in price with the CT leading the way.
According to my records, Registrations in the USA.......there are only 66 cars titled....say a few that do not title like dealers owners that kept or some that just were not titled.......I would say there are NO more than 80-85 REAL 6.0 cars in the USA.....that INCLUDES 6.0 SE, 4 Brown came into the USA and 5 gold...... I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT 6.0 GOOD CLEAN CAR WILL BE OVER 200-210K BY SUMMERS END........
I sold my yellow 6.0 a few months ago and after seeing current market values on similar ones, there is no doubt in my mind I could have gotten a lot more for it had I waited to sell it until this Spring. They're currently going for a lot more than they were 6 months ago. The main reason is probably becuase as many have already mentioned, they're so limited. Jess, congratulations on getting a yellow one! I know how badly you've being wanting one of those. Mike W., how've you been doing? Long time no talk.
Interesting observation on the 91 car in Canada. - The car can now be legally imported into Canada. They are well below six figures in Europe (Euros).
I would be willing to bet that there are a lot more un-titled cars than you think. By purchasing a high dollar car such as the 6.0 under a dealer license (i.e., not having to title it) you save *quite* a bit of money on sales tax alone. Just thought I'd pernt that out. . .
how much do you think the 6.0se is worth if it's in near perfect condition, 5500 miles? I heard the SE models were very difficult to sell when they came out because the gold and brown colors were unpopular. Wonder if they demand a premium now? Personally I like them, I wish I had the brown one to add to the collection.
