Cold start is great. Crank revolves 2 to 4 turns and it easily comes to life.

Hot start ----- not so great. Hold gas pedal to floor. Do not pump. Turn key, and I think it takes a solid 15 seconds (maybe more) to reluctantly start. I feel bad for the starter! Once started, it runs well. No misfires, smooth, strong etc. I was thinking floats are too high?? But how to check?

One person suggested taking air filter cover off when hot, and look at butterflys before starting. If they are wet with fuel, fuel is dribbling out of carbs due to percolation. I could just lower floats a mm, but I'd like to know I'm chasing the right problem.

The advice you were given is exactly the same as what I would have given you.

Too much throttle IME. 1/4 gas pedal open without pumping worked fine for me when hot -- have you tried that?
