    Hi all,

I’m looking for advice on the best "cheap" diagnostic tool for a Ferrari 360. I recently purchased a ThinkDiag+, but I haven’t been able to connect to the TCU. I’ve tried it on two different 360s, both with the "later style" TCUs. Unfortunately, no luck so far.

I’m considering the Autel AP200 as an alternative, but I’d like something capable of adjusting the PIS in the future. The ThinkDiag+ seemed like a good option initially, but I read somewhere that it used to work with the 360's TCU and stopped working after a software update. Can anyone confirm if that’s true?

Would upgrading to the ThinkDiag 2 make any difference? From what I understand, it probably uses the same software, so I’m not sure it would solve the issue.

If anyone has experience with these tools—or suggestions for better alternatives—I’d really appreciate your input. My goal is to have reliable access to TCU diagnostics and adjustments without spending thousands on factory-grade tools.

    Thanks in advance!
    Andy

I have the ThinkDiag2, and I can perform all of those functions. I have a 2003 with a CS flash on my TCU.

Big thanks to flash32 for his invaluable expertise on TCUs!

    Here’s what I’ve learned:
    • The Thinkdiag Line works with later TCUs (e.g., 2004) but not my 2002.
    • The Autel AP200 is compatible with all 360 TCUs but is limited to reading data.
I’ll be getting the AP200 for now, as it’ll still be handy. In the future, I may upgrade to a later TCU or reflash mine to the 2004 Modena version (preferred for compatibility) or the CS version.

    Hope this helps others!

    Cheers,

    Thanks

Just one clarification...I know the ap200 works on 2001 and up for sure by testing ..haven't had the chance / opportunity to test on some older ones

I have a 2001 Modena with a 211023 TCU but neither my AP200 nor my ThinkDiag2 can access it (using an iPhone on both). On a full diagnostic, the ThinkDiag2 eventually errors out with a getboxinfo failed message. The AP200 shows an exclamation mark for all TCU types.

I'd really like to modify my PIS as it is impossible to feather the throttle in reverse or first - it wants more throttle to find the bite point of the clutch.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong or how to resolve this?

That TCU should be able to come to both the tools
I am going to guess it is the sequence of how you disarm, connect and start programs

    Try this on android

Shut down application and shut phone
    Pull dongle out
    Restart phone
    Put dongle in
Turn key to where all dash lights are on
    Demobilize the car
Start program and go TCU version 1

    Thank you.

I don't have an Android device. Do you think that will make a difference? I could buy a Fire Tablet if it will.

Try the Iphone -- it is a little more finicky - i don't think a fire tablet will work

    I recently got a 'THINKSCAN 689BT'
I've got to play with it some, it seems to work very well.
It does to pis, clutch life etc.
I've also have the x431 dongle, the autel200, but they didn't do as much, and the x431 required yearly updates per model. the 689bt is lifetime free, and works offline.

I plan in doing my clutch diy here soon and i will be using this to reset it. F430 here

Just a FYI - Launch x431 ( any model) is the same software as thinkscan / Thinkcar

If that is not the "cracked" version - it is was more of a read only tool from Launch like the ap200 - the dongle itself is powerful but needs to be "cracked/ patched" or used with Prodiag and you will have full capabilities
