Sure did. Hard to believe after all the superlatives when driving the Enzo that Clarkson still considered it to be "uncool" though.
Sadly, the Enzo is not the quantum leap in speed over everything else that the F40 was when it came out. That's part of the reason why the F40's such a special car. Nothing else compared at the time. Even today, it's more fun to drive than an Enzo....but without doubt, an Enzo leaves it for dead in pretty much every other department (so I'm reliably informed by an impeccable source)
I thought I lost my Season5 collection of TG, luckly I found it Aircon: On the Enzo being better at everything, Clarkson said in his latest DVD an Enzo clutch only lasts for 3 hard launches, how long does the F40 last? Im uploading the F40 segment now, for any FC_Oz members that may of missed out, its 30mb soo need to wait 20mins b4 its up. Also for F40LMGTC to have it on an endless loop on his PC
I have no doubt that the Enzo, is a wonderful car, packed full of goodies and technology. In fact I was one of the 8 people offered ENZO's for $635000 us, in Australia. Sadly, because I wanted to pay the duty and have the car here permanently, it was going to cost me $1.8m. Basically, I couldn't afford it. AND, I bought the road going F40 instead. But I think that the 430, will be my last domestic ferrari car. I think in future, (if I can afford it), I will be going for the more special verity Ferrari's, such as an ENZO. The biggest problem with these sorts of cars, is the amount of duty that you have to pay, when you want to keep the car for a long time. At present, I have first option on the 333SP, when the current owner decides to sell..............IF he decides to sell. My wife said she likes the ENZO better than the F40. Time for a new wife I say.
Ok here it is, its only the F40 bit. JC driving it etc. http://www.coresworld.net/F40/TopGear-F40.avi 31mb~ (please dont post it to other forums or threads, thanx)
Just buy another one Gil. They made 40+ 333SP's and many are collecting dust in museums, just like this one was.
When I spoke to the owner, he suggested that 2 years was MAYBE a good time to start thinking about a deal. 2 years works well for me as this thing is gonna cost sh1tloads.
It's an interesting philosophy..................to be only in love with one car, for the rest of your life. AND clutch, I just put a new one in the F40 @ 12000k. First clutch for the car, keeping in mind, me ole mate, Berger, thrashed the guts out of it around Eastern Creek.
so far this month we have 1) top 10 cars of the last 35 years = winner F40 Top Gear TV comparison = winner F40 We're doing well so far. F40's 2 world 0 Merry xmas xxxxxx
i can give you a better reason. she just called me a gentleman! i guess anyone who marries you can't really be very fussy p.s. dear everybody, I've know Gil and his wife for 20 years..it's ok for me to insult them without them taking it personally or seroiusly, just as the other way around is quite acceptable too.
When you have to explain your sense of humour (or lack thereof), to everybody.....forget it. As I've said before, I've been insulted by the best, and your not one of them. (still love the 512BB though)
thanks for that. I'd seen it before, but forgotten how good a segment it was. I'd LOVE for them to put on a new set of tyres, pads and fluid and put the stig in and F40 F50 and McLaren. That would be one YUMMO episode. btw...never mind JC....brundle was quite in love with the F40 too.
when I do the link, all I get is sound without pictures. (I get a swirling light show, kind of like what goes on in peepees head I imagine) cyber geeks... help.
ok got it thanks now, how do I get to see what happens when the stig drives it......... BTW, That car in the feature is a known modifiied car. Boost is upped and I think exhaust is changed too... so non std. Hard to prove any journo testing of F40's... so easy to tweak for major gains. Come on Gil/Scott...lets settle the debate..... Prep the cars with good tyres/brakes/set up etc and see whats what for ourselves....
already proven....calder. want more proof? see what happens at PI which is now 2 seconds faster than 15 years ago. i reckon the F50 will have to do 1.48 on p-zeros just to be equal. it's not gonna happen
oh, as for top gears i've downloaded (but not watched ) everything from the last couple years so if you want a copy send me an email [myusername] at [gmail] dotcom (pms are full and couldn't be bothered deleting). it might take me a while because i'm slack, or i might forget (as that lithuanian dude who i accidentally deleted his pm's ages ago !!!!!SORRY!!! knows ) or you might get your disk labelled PORN (as moretti knows ) but hey i've got them and if you couldn't be bothered waiting for them (SBS is 2 years behind BTW) then i'll send em to ya. edit: i wonder if my PO will consider this community service or if i still have to do time.......
Geez, WTF gives a sh*t. Unless you have the same driver in each car, on the same day, under the same conditions it means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Get over it!
Nope. But perhaps you meant Barbagallo, which was much closer to a true test... We need a car swap... Scott/Gil to drive each others cars (after a suitable time to adapt/learn)... or another driver to drive both. Or maybe Scott could swap his N-GT for one of the MM F40's.... for a day as trial before purchase?
