According to the part numbers there was only silencer and manifold used. I'm not sure if this is the best indicator but it's a start.

Just one part number for those parts. If there is a update or a redesign they usually issue a superseded part number.

    EX: 125894 original 125894-A updated

This isn't a 100% way to tell but the manufacture is pretty good about changing part numbers when they change a part.

Some early Stradales did not have the heat shield over the turned down section of the exhaust pipe coming from the actual muffler.

    Hey Gary,

What's up with those heat shields, do they really do something and if so why aren't they on the 430 box which closely resembles the Stradale box?

is it correct to assume all the CSs sound the same, even if they had the update to the silencer?

The exhaust everyone seems to keep referring to as the 'Challenge Stradale' exhaust is actually a standard 360 Modena optional factory part. I have mentioned this before on here several times before.

    Check out the original Modena Options list its there for everyone to see;

    1. Racing exhaust system : £3,114

I don't actually think the take up was very high though and on the CS it was made standard, just like many of the parts on the Modena options list.

The CS had many of the Modena options included as factory standard parts.

    1. Carbon kit for engine compartment : £ 2,943
    2. Racing exhaust system : £ 3,114
    3. Fire extinguisher : £ 341
    4. Road legal roll bar : £ 1,704 (made lighter for CS)
    5. 4 point harness (Racing seats not included) £ 1,410
    6. Two racing seats £3,055
    7. Rear challenge style black grille £ 353 (made lighter for CS)
    8. Scuderia Ferrari shield on front wing £ 740
    9. Front challenge style grilles £ 317
    10. Hi fi sound system with central subwoofer £1,293

All of these parts where options costing around £14,000 ($25,000) alone.

    Hi Trev,

Wonder if you can answer this one? The parts diagrams on the likes of eurospares show the optional modena racing exhaust very much equal to the CS standard exhaust very mush equal to the standard 430 exhaust.

Do you know if a standard 430 exhaust can be fitted to a 360 and if so do you know if the result is "pleasing" (as in 360CS sound pleasing)?

The F430 rear box IS identical to the CS, early F430 even had F131 stamped on the box, a change by dealers came to make all the rear boxes say F131E, the F430 designation.

Anybody who tells you the Stradale rear box and F430 rear box is different, is wrong (minus an added thread between pipes for a heat shield!

    Hi Mike,

Good to get a definitive answer like yours!

Ok, so the silencer box, being exactly the same as the CS, has to be capable of bolting on to the standard 360 manifold outlets.

Next up, will the tailpipes of the 430 work with the mounting points and body work of the 360 in the same way as the tailpipes from the 360CS work?

Any finally, if it's all possible, what's the result? Are we talking CS pleasing results?

The pleasing results you speak of come from not only the muffler and tips, but also the valve timing. Unless you have your valve timing modified to that of a CS, I'm afraid you will not get the full effect.

Cheer's Cig. Sure once I get the box on I'll try advancing / retarding the timing one tooth at a time and see how I go. :)
