Did Rob's actions over the last two weeks put FCHat in a slump?

It's perfectly cool for you to talk about your past drug usage but not ok for someone else to cuss?

Peter is not a Gen Xer. He's 46~.

As a Gen Xer, I've never been banned or formally warned. I can (and have) stared at the vintage section for hours. I'm into driving, the side talk is merely a way to blow off steam and have some fun with people of similar interests. Conversely, I've never lodged a complaint against another member here. How about you?

You might be one of those guys who just talks about cars at gatherings and that's perfectly fine. But like bad breath, it's a fine social line actually mentioning that you're a bore.

Whoa now. That shows a level of maturity that is in the teen-age cycle of years, not an aduut. Getting that defensive is not productive and added nothing to your argument for wanting to take F/C down an avenue different from what it was originally intended.

Dale has every right to talk of his past and how it has painted his present. I have told many people in the past that in my relating past experiences it is not trying to one-up them. I have been around the block a few more times than most the members here so I may have had some experiences myself that you or others younger than myself have not. Just figure that whenever you have been on this planet for as many years as Dale or myself how many more experiences you may relate to..........

Rob started this site and he can control how it is to be used. If you do not want to abide by the rules he sets, it is okay with me if you go start your own site. You might be able to take a few others with you but I believe that those who are on F/C for its original intent are quite content to stay right here and live within the rules Rob sets. For those who are not, I might have to say that they are just posers anyway and add no value to this site.

Others may not agree with me but that is okay also. Everyone has a right to free speech but it may be limited to where it may be used........

I just don't understand why you are wanting to get back at him. He set the rules before you or I either one were ever members here. I agreed to abide by them just as anyone who is a member here has. Just let it die and live within the restrictions set on this site. It will not kill either of us to stay within the bounds set.

We aren't too far off generationally, and I agree that we find different things funny/interesting than others. Not many here seem to understand Hunter, you, me, or Wax, yet they are all part of the community here.
I love old stuff, have been around many cars, and have friends I met through here that I crossed paths with but never met more than 30+ years ago. I also have friends who weren't born when either of us was in college. Yet, they are enthusiasts, different, but here for the cars.
If some mods (MarkPDX excepted) did not control an unruly crowd, much like the French police, a riot ensues. Yes the rioters are culpable, but the situation putting them there is a systemic issue. Swear words and subverting the censor aren't the problem. Ganja doesn't lead to sex, unfortunately.
I don't read every section of the New York Times, but it still is a good read.
And you and Rob don't get along famously either, from what I've seen, so lighten up.
I quit Concours years ago as I believe you did for the same reasons...pompous owners/judges.
So, the real question remains...who is really being offended by this stuff and driven away that could add to the board?

No, I will not say I never broke any rules. I probably broke one when I posted back a reply to Marcal on the McLaren F1 thread last night. I was attacked and I responded. I should have never responded at all and let the thread die. If Rob wants to slap my hand for that, I admit I did it and will accept any discipline that I may deserve if there is any.......

Do I set out to go outside the box when beginning a thread or responding to one? No, but sometimes that could happen........
