Just a random thought. Did that diamond lost off the front of Christian Klien's car in the 04 Monaco race ever reappear? I googled for it and couldn't find a followup.

    Never heard of it again.

Some speculated it never went missing in the first place but was just another story to get the cars into the news. Who knows.

Not only the cars but also the whole thing was a promotion for the movie Ocean's 12, which is about a ring of thieves. Hmmmmmmmmm....

What a great question, you know I often wonder the same thing, and I can't believe how stupid they were to put the thing on there in the first place. I bet someone had a good day when they found it !!

It was just the peak (or rather valley) of arrogance to do something like that in the first place.........

I'm calling bull$hit on that whole episode. I did at the time, and the lack of follow-up tends to confirm it.

i also called BS, great marketing ploy though. Especially because they knew Jaguar was bound to crash, or break every 5 minutes

    Hear hear!

It would be easy to peg an inflated value on it - i.e. "he will be carrying a diamond worth $200k!". It doesn't need to be a carbon diamond and it could be valued at $200k by "the promotional value to the company" instead of it's street price. That way it's a circular truth and wouldn't *really* be lying.

Or, they could have just flat-out lied :)

Diamonds are, by definition, pure carbon.

I think someone just picked it up off the ground. Happens everyday in Monaco. "Oh look, a $200k diamond. Looks like the one we found last week, but smaller."

".... we were prepared for this otherwise we would never have done it" was one of the comments Jaguar made about the diamond debacle. Given their F1 performance it wouldn't surprise me if they took that mentality in with them during their brief F1 existance.
