It's a bit strange, actually. Historically we don't have much of a car culture (at least compared to Sweden for instance), and today people are much more interested in new cars than the classics. Which is really weird, given that new cars have huge import taxes. A new 488 will cost around Euro 400K... The good news is that if you first can find a classic for sale here they have been very cheap, although people seem to be catching up.

I drove my Dino yesterday. But it was one of typical 'other' kind of days that we don't talk about so much.

It started by picking the car up from the shop, where the Crane ignition unit had been swapped for a new one. Apparently, they're prone to failure after 8-10 years. I was assured this will cure the occasional misfire and stall in busy intersections.

On the way home, the radiator overflowed. Checked the bleed screw on the radiator on the front - sure enough, air bubbles. Got home, cleaned the engine up and tucked the car in.

    Test drive on Sunday!

My Dino came with the Crane ignition and optical trigger. It was problematic and would just cut out on me. I replaced it and it happened again. After much research I ended up finding an NOS distributor w/the points and installed the Winterburn CD ignition unit. The Winterburn is a direct replacement for the Dinoplex and is utterly reliable and works fantastic. I was able to bring my Dino's ignition system back to stock original and couldn't be happier! I can't recommend it enough. Fred Winterburn will also install the unit within a Dinoplex case. He makes each unit by hand and is really affordable (around $300-$400). He stands behind his product. His dad Lloyd Winterburn was a pioneer in CD ignition. BTW, he's in Ripley, Ontario, Canada.

We did a little two day Dino excursion to the Rhine/Moselle region this weekend having lovely weather here in Germany. While passing the river Rhine at Kolb with a little ferry boat we briefly meet a Fchater couple coming all the way from the USA with their BMW, being on the way to Munich for the 100 years BMW celebrations....

Fun photo! Both your Dino and the BMW look great in yellow - is the BMW color Golf Yellow?

I can't tell very well from the photo, but was the BMW a 3.0CS or a 2800CS, similar in color to the 3.0CSL below?

that I don`t know... the crossing took just 5 minutes... and there wasn`t time for detailed questions... I gave him my business card... I hope he will contact me... he told me, that he is an active Fchater in the Lamborghini section....

Not a long drive, no more than 20 or 30 miles, just a spur of the moment thing. Fine afternoon, dry roads, I had an hour to spare, so I took the covers off and went out for a spin along some winding back roads here in Devon, but with one or two decent straight bits where I could wind it up to 110 / 120.

It really is so good to drive! And doesn't that engine love to rev? How can you resist running it up to the red line in every gear, just to hear that glorious sound (window open, of course!).

    Life is good!

I took #07610 out for a quick spin today as the sun was shining and I felt guilty I haven't really used her much this summer. Here she is waiting to go. Both shots were taken literally seconds apart and show how different this colour looks when the sun hits it.

    Thanks, Freeman. Blu Dino Metallizzato.

I have Kevin (Telaio) to thank for that: he restored it 15 years ago - still looking good, a testament to his workmanship.

Had a chance to see the Dino for the first time since its engine and interior restoration. Even took the liberty to drive the Dino around San Diego area for a couple of days before I had to fly off the country. Car is back now with OMGJON for its phase 2 restoration - turning it back to OEM factory look.

Yes, but they are a mixed blessing. They do look good, but I have to take them off and put them on again every time I wash the car as the soapy water finds its way inside them so I have to take them off to dry inside them.

finally we had the first "real" ride with the "girls". Coming from Vienna we took the streets through the woods with endless turns, had lunch and finally headed to "Wachau" tasting wines and spending the night there. Next day we went back on the other side of the Danube. After all we drove about 250 kms - ot to much, but it was a great trip for the first ride in our #00420 ...

The 246 has an alternator problem (what means we ran it on battery power only, that we filled on a stop saturday) but it drove and handled very well, the carbs are maybe still a bit rich. The 308 Dino is in very good condition and drives great in any sense.
