They are going green. Wait, I thought going green was supposed to help the US economy not Japan's.

How will he be able to pull anyone over?
Here in Vancouver (and maybe elsewhere I don't know) we have CTRAN security guards and personnel driving around in Priuses.

That's doesn't look like a police car to me. It appears to be an NIU campus security vehicle.

I thought so too, but i was right next to it and nowhere on it did it say "security" but it did have a NIU huskey logo on it which is what made me wonder. Are security cars allowed to have POLICE markings on their doors and hood and 'DIAL 911' messages as well?

A number of universities have campus police. Their cars say police and do have the 911 on them.

Nothern Illinois University has it's own police department (powers of arrest and everything else that goes with it). That's one of their cars.

I think they use priuses because when driving around campus, they go slowly, and drive often, so they need good MPG. Highland Park police have one or two Priuses. Probably used to ticket cars parked in the wrong spots. Evanston uses Jeeps, to ticket cars parked wrong in downtown.

UofC Police have jurisdiction in Hyde Park as well. In fact, The University of Chicago has the second largest private police force in the world. It is second only to the Vatican's. most UCPD are also CPD officers.

There is absolutely no reason for any university to have that kind of security.
