Ok, so I am really close to pulling the trigger and my wife says today; can you take J-----(our son) for a ride in that car? ......OH SH--, he went with me all the time in my Maserati, my older XKR,(new ones, no back seat to speak of) he was not born when I had the Lotus and others. So he is only 6, my wife says he has to be in a booster till 8, and then something about a federal recommmendation that kids NOt sit upfront till 13?????????????? I was looking at the 456 b/c of the 4 seat capacity but that is really NOT what I want; and I know he will be bummed if I cannot take him for a ride for many years...........hell now I am bummed! dog

When you get yours, get him one of those f-car powerwheels, he'll love that you both have f-cars and you won't delay YOUR fun, Otter

Do not buy a Ferrari to please your son or wife.
    Thats what Chevys are for.
    Been there done that.

I do however enjoy taking my son with me to look at cars; going on errands with me in my sports cars, etc. and even my wife enjoys the sports cars I have bought over the years...dog

I gave no thought to it at all.

I did, however, bring my son home from the hospital after his birth, in the Ferrari. My wife followed closely in another vehicle.

    So, there you go.

If your worrying about putting 2 people in the car or at least one in the back you are severely limiting you F car choices. Sounds like the Cali would solve a few problems.

but that is not in the realm of possibilities; the old 456GT would but I am not wanting that model for several reasons, one of which I do not like the stying compared to a 550, and teh 360 is a whole different car, NOT GT car there, lol, dog

    No kids here, but...

When I had my 330 2+2 and then got the 308, we had space for 3 cars and kept my wife's dad's Merc Grand Marquis as a second car with auto trans.

With the move to our current house nearly two years ago, we lost a parking space and sold the Merc; now my wife is concerned about being left carless when I'm out in the 4Runner (she can't drive a manual, much less a power-steeringless 308).

Both of us want to continue Ferrari ownership, but we can't currently spare the $40K+ cash needed to move up to an F1 360 that she can drive.

Maybe I should go back to work for awhile and take the 308.

The 456 is a great car if you want to take the family along and do school drop off. The V12 is superb and handling quite good for the size...and pricewise a bargain!! Nothing says that you can't get a 355 or 360 to pair up with it later.. BTW, auto problems on the 456 is a red herring, people that know (little) have spread this notion that it's unreliable (it isn't) and very expensive (yes it is is, but what isn't on a Ferrari) - ask the experts that work on them regularly and get the real scoop.

right you are, i hadnt looked close at it to see is an auto .....finding a manual 456 is a bit tougher i think

don't know what your budget is, but is the recently price dipped 599s an option?
you can find a 2007 model in the $200K range now ...maybe less from a dealer anxious to sell

I didn't think about it either, I have other cars for family drives.

Otherwise it's just me or on dates with the wife or bringing my son for a drive. For fast drives it's usually alone... :)
