SO I was on the hook for a 1979 Carb GTB with Factory Installed 1980 Interior. I was in love with the uniqueness but unfortunately it has been just witting in a warehouse for over 15 years and is in need of to much work and the asking price is a bit to much to out weigh everything that needs to be done.

IT SUCKS AS I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO A NICE SUMMER IN THE 308!!!

So if anyone knows of any great 308s for sale please let me know I am based in Cape Cod, MA....

PLESE HELP ME FIND A 308!!!

They are out their, be patient. OTOH life is short and you can't take money with you, so get the car you are passionate about, fix her, love her, and drive her.

Best of luck, and don't worry, you'll find the car for you. I bought a car that had been sitting for nearly 10 years and 2 years later I'm still working on things. Unless you really want a project (I did) those cars will just frustrate you. But keep in mind even a "good" 308 will likely need a little work, don't let it discourage you. 15 years sitting is on the extreme end, though, you should be able to find a car capable of driving home for a decent price.

I am keeping an eye out for a euro QV for myself. If I run across any carb cars (I don't want a carb car) I will post here or PM.

My car had been in a warehouse for about 12 years and based on the thick, thick layer of dirt and dust on the car it had not seen much attention. The price was right and now three years later I am still working through things. For me part of the fun of the car is to tinker so that is just fine.

I looked for a car for a long time (at least two years). Finally, my wife said just buy it as she was getting tired of me looking at one car after another. It was not perfect but not bad either, just a solid car that needed attention.

Good luck finding a car and keep us posted!

Looking at these pictures the car is very complete and still look good. All smog Equipment, books, Tools. These are now kind of a bit hard to find. I think the price is right for the car. This is a carb GTB not a GTSi.

Low mileage car in great condition with service records, I would say mid / high $40ks.

In general 308s and 328s seem to be way undervalued when looked at comparatively to the classic car market. See what else you can buy in the mid $40ks that compares...a well restored American muscle car (not that I don't love American muscle) that produced 100K units per year for several years...but this is nothing that anyone on this chat doesn't already know.

So here are some additional images from the PPI and some notes:

Please weigh in on what I should realistically pay!

1980 Ferrari 308, Red exterior / Palomino interior
    VIN: 30501 Mileage: 19,048 DOM 12/79

Attached notes show main issues with this car are with time and age.
The license tag shows 2004 as last registration.
The body and structure presents itself well. There are various chips and paint imperfections which could be touched up and professionally polished. The only rust in question listed is in metal louvers behind rear wheels which is easy fix plus the bottoms of the doors may be showing some slight bubbling but it also could be rundown and dirt contamination from painting as Ferrari in this period paid attention to driving quality not paint finish quality. The door jambs appear very nice. If your state is emission compliant hopefully this car will be year exempt as the air pump is inoperative. The cam and drive belts we can tell have been replaced in the past. The cam belt and front of engine area is dry of oil. There are minor oil leaks at the sump, front distributor and valve cover. The axles need to be pulled and c-v joints boots replaced. Interior while dry and dusty is very original and should clean up well. Headliner should be glued as it is sagging, the interior it is evident has been shielded from the sun by inside storage. I heard the engine run when Reza delivered the car here. I did not drive or restart the car as it is in need of carburetion work. The history as described to me the cam belt was done by a competent local tech. As this car has been in extended storage and judging by the external and internal carburetor visuals I believe the carbs all need to be removed cleaned and kitted.

The car does not look too bad overall. Minor things to be expected of a car this old.

The oil filter is the wrong kind, I do not believe it has the stand tube similar to the Baldwins and the like.

it hasn't been maintained properly and the owner couldn't get it started after the PPI so instead of towing it with a flat bed he used a regular tow truck!! The person who was doing the PPI couldn't do a Compression or leak down test as they didn't want to start it or turn it over.

If anyone is looking for a project... PLEASE SAVE THIS CAR!!!!!
