been looking at carbon engine grills and noticed that the part for the carbon option on the modena is a different part number for the one on the stradale.

does anyone know what the difference is between the two parts, especially looks wise with the engine lid closed?

i was about to pick some up but am now unsure which direction i should be going? im now wary about ordering the modena option incase it looks vastly different and i dont like it.

The Modena grills are constructed in plastic and the CS are made in Carbon Fiber. If you want to upgrade your Modena grills you need to buy aftermarket grills.

    sorry i wasnt clear.
ferrari offer a option for the modena to change the plastic engine lid grills to carbon.
the part number is different from the CS version, the frame that mounts them differs slightly so i assume part of the difference is that the modena optional carbon grills mount right up using all the parts that are already there for the plastic one.
i just want to make sure theres no difference aesthetically between the modena and CS carbon versions when looking at them with the lid closed. ie they are still the same overall design and only the mount screw positions differ.

anyone know or have a modena with the optional ferrari carbon grills fitted? i know many are happy with aftermarket ones but i'd rather stick with the ferrari ones.

    Neil,

You have a PM on CS.

I think the reason why Ferrari have a different part no. for the Modena CF rear vents Vs the CS is due to the differences between the Plexi-glass rear window of the CS and the Glass window on the Modena.

On the CS there is a ridge on the carbon, like a lip which overlays over the plexiglass. This is a must because the heat of the enginebay expands and contracts the plexiglass so without the ridge the glass would have nowhere to go and crack. This doesn't happen on the Modena's glass back window hence the reason why I guess Ferrari have a different part listed for the CS than the Modena.

Hope this clears things up a little!

PS. Never seen the official Ferrari, optional CF Modena rear vents, please post some pics.
