It effects the VALUE downward..

There will always be registration and title hassles on the VIN, and there's very real differences in the parts support.

But they are old enough now those may be minor quibbles on a cream puff car at the right price.

Operationally it may lack safety features like crash beams in the doors, drive safely, Billy.

But the Euro is much quicker having a whole lot more 10 BHP and a little more torque.

Oh did I mention the lack of weight as well.


European cars are always more expensive because we have a Mr. Brown who loves to tax us brits just because he can. He is of course on HIS WAY OUT SOON.....

I was just pointing out the downside here in the States, agree there's some advantages....but I sometimes USE the door crash beams!!!

Oh no, I've had a heavy crash right thru the driver's side.....it paid off the car tho!

No injuries thankfully and swapping a new door (painfully fitted into the old opening) and I was back to the races.

It was a very large truck tho, owned BY General Motors.....they wrote me off a check as if it was 'only dinner'. LOL!

 

If you mean a euro version TR presently living in the US, you need to understand its present configuration/status -- i.e.:

euro without EPA/DOT papers and not converted = trouble

euro with good EPA/DOT papers, but badly/poorly converted = not so great

euro converted well with good papers = the least gov't hassle and the best resale option (but you don't get all of the extra 10 HP )

euro with good papers, but not actually converted = has the extra 10 HP, but will have a limited resale market in the US.

ecu"s, exhaust, side marker lights,speedometer, 3 rd brake lights, diif colour parking lights, automatic seatbelts. Value?? probably the same, in my opinion euro a little more because i hate those seatbelts.

 

If you think they're expensive over there, move to Australia. We are royally ripped a new one on the "used car" market over here. Not just with exotics either. With ANY car.

Selling for 5,000 pounds. So that's say $12,000 AU

Can't import it (due to our other issue being import laws protecting the over priced local market)

Buy price for the same car in Australia? $25,000 AU

Hence why WHEN the time comes to Buy my Testarossa, I'll be tripping to the UK and buying the best pre 1989 I can find. And even with the taxes I'll get hit with at both ends, I'll be saving tens of thousands in AU$$$

That said, rego (road tax) and insurance are MUCH cheaper in Aus than in the UK.
