Does anyone have any experience or know whats the difference between these paint protection coatings.

I do have a concern with the 458, I noticed that the 458 gets rock chips like crazy driving on the freeway. So I just xpel the whole front end of my 458 it looks amazing and I don't need to worry about rock chips anymore. Going back next week for clearplex on windshield as well. But my question is, what does everyone do on swirl marks. I only wash the 458 at hand car washes like Auto Detailing | Car Cleaning Service | Interior Exterior | San Jose, CA but its still getting crazy swirl marks all over the car where it is not xpel. The font end since its xpel is looking great no swirl marks at all due to the xpel protection film. The guys at the shop recommended me to do a Ceramic Coating on the rest of the car this would prevent swirl marks. What does everyone here on Fchat recommend.

    1. Xpel the rest of the car looking at roughly 2.5k to 3k
    2. Do Ceramic Pro Coating 5 year warranty roughly 1.5k at detail shop
    3. Do Titanium Coating 5 year warranty roughly 1k at AJ auto detail
    4. Do Ceramic Coating 3 Year Warranty roughly 700 at AJ auto detail

whats the difference between the 3 types of coatings Ceramic vs Ceramic Pro vs Titanium

I don't know the answer to your question but I don't see much value in the synthetics. I have it on my FF and RR and they don't look much better a cple weeks after the detail. I must be missing the point or something but I'm sticking with carnuba. I have modesta on my cars and the swirls are still there.

In my experience, coatings will not stop swirl marks. In order to maintain your finish, the car has to be washed properly or the only thing you'll do is introduce scratching and marring to the surface. For example, I use the two bucket method for washing my car and make sure to do the upper surfaces first. Even at that, I use a separate wash mitt for the lower areas of the car.

In regards to your swirl marks - you are going to need to have them polished out before applying any coating or else they'll still be there.

BTW - here is a great video on how to properly wash your car - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p8FOcHAFZA

Excellent advice, Tony. He is spot on. Avoid the use of quick detail sprays unless the car is clean. I personally only wet water wash my cars and doing it properly does reduce the level of micro scratches but it does not prevent them. A good coating can help reduce FM from sticking to the paint and making the wash job go smooth and reduce micro scratches.

Thanks for the everyone advice, I don't even wash my car at home lol. I take them to hand car washes that do exotic cars and it still comes back with swirls. Maybe I am just unlucky but I made an appointment with my detailer for a full Paint correction to remove all the swirls then they are going to Ceramic Pro the entire car including the xpel on the front end. They are also going to install clearplex on the windshield for protection since I can't avoid driving on the freeway. I'll update here on my experience with ceramic pro when its done. If its bad at least other owners can avoid it, if its good then its your call if you want to ceramic pro your baby.

Swirls are induced through washing or wiping with a contaminated surface or wiping aid. It's one of the two. Are you washing the car yourself at this hand car wash, or is some one else? Not taking care in the process can easily put swirls in your paint. Plenty of advice out there for best practices in how to minimize. Do you have any detailed and up-close photographs under direct florescent or sunlight of the swirling?
