Can owners that have driven both the 355 F1 and 360 F1 compare the similarities or differences between the F1 systems. Is the 360 set up very similar or faster? Do you prefer one over the other?

Best thing about the 355 F1 system is that it's an F355. 360 f1 is much improved overall especially when equipped with the updated TCU which is miles better than the first 360 f1 software.

Benefit of the 355 system is it's still a cable operated throttle, with no ecu controlled throttle blips on the downshifts, so you can enjoy the rev matching yourself and the car rewards you for driving it so.

Also the hill engineering adaptor allows you to retro fit the 360 pump which doesn't improve shift responses but does make priming and selection of reverse gear much faster and probably more reliable over the life of the pump.

I have owned an f1 GTS and driven a few of them very fun when driven hard. Much prefer the manual though, but the driver involvement is still there in the f1 - as you have to think about pulling into neutral at the lights (for clutch life) - and the manual rev matches keep you on your toes (pun intended). The worst thing about the f1 is reversing and taking off it rides the clutch really bad and the car feels sluggish off the mark. You can plant it hard and the car will drop the clutch at 6k Rpm but I wouldn't do that too often!

Thank you very much for the thorough input.

Hopefully others will chime in as well.

Robb, I've driven a 430 F1. It was my first Ferrari I drove and while it was incredible, I did not feel the F1 was all that much better than a 355 F1.

I think many comments regarding the F1 in a 355 must come from systems not being setup ideal. You have driven my F1 and you know it's blink of the eye on shifts.

I'll never be able to describe it but there is a technique for starting off. Once you know the car, you can feel the point of engagement and know how to take off without jerky motions.

I almost never select N at red lights unless I know it will be a long one. My car is 15k miles on original clutch and it runs perfectly. It primes reasonably fast so I have no desire at this time to install a 360 pump.

I find the key to enjoyment to be a warmed up car followed by shifts at high RPM's.

Now, if we compare the 355 to the DCT 458 - no comparison. But, the 458 has no raw feeling at all.

so the 355 F1 system does not blip/rev match on downshifts..?

MAd828 mentioned above that you can blip the throttle on your own while downshifting the 355 F1 system... how is that possible..?

I guess there is a window between time of selecting downshift and next gear engaging to allow driver to blip the throttle..?

never driven 355 f1 so no experience with that..

The 355 F1 system is not drive by wire so you are correct, no computer controled rev matching.

So say they can manually do this. I've not be able to but I've also not tried very hard. I supposed it's all a matter of timming but my car shifts very quick....

As you pull the lever for downshift, you blip the throttle. There is a window of time that allows this to be a perfect rev matched downshift. If you own an F1 and don't master this your missing out!

    Yes.

There are a lot of other techniques that make F1 ownership a lot of fun. As much or more than a stick. Of course the stick has the "feel" and cruising around in 4th with your hand resting on it just feels cool, heel and toe, etc...
The F1 with the original pump and ECU and fresh full fluid is as fast as a 360 in my opinion.

IMO, the 360 F1 is superior. They feel similar, but the shift speed of the 360 version puts it ahead. You can blip both on downshifts, if I recall correctly.
