I thought it would be neat to run a Thread listing the differences between the 360 and 430 for prospective buyers.

Besides a significant difference in current prices ($40,000 plus), what do you get for the money?

Is the 430 more dependable than a 360, 360 bugs fixed in the 360, and so on.

What issues do the 360 and 430 have in common; stickey buttons, F1 issues, dash shrinkage, and so on.

    Performance differences?

    Resale values?

This thread is just going to cause problems... the differences are obvious price power handling performance one is more updated and modern.... the decision to buy one or the other is completely subjective. Either way two great machines just be happy with your choice dont buy one car and be wishing you bought the other!!!

Actually it could be a really useful thread if it were approached honestly, logically and in detail.

One poster had it right - "it's subjective." I had full intentions of a 430, until I saw it next to a 360...which to me, was prettier, more curves, more old world Italian looks, more moreness (to quote Jeremy Clarkson)....I even like the non-modern interior better. Again - all is subjective. The 430 is faster, but the 360 is fast enough (couple tenths 0-60). You can view YouTube vids of them head-to-head...finishing feet apart, not a big deal, and to it's fight, the 355 isn't far back (and possibly the prettiest one of all)! Back to subjective. They are both reliable, great cars.

End of day, the 430/360's I was looking at were $50k apart - $20k, I'd pull the trigger, but they aren't....really nice, clean ones, serviced and ready - $40k apart. Are you getting $40k more car? Subjectively, no...haha, objectively, not really...a lot of drivers with 430 cash don't care, they just want the new one. Me personally, subjectively - I just added the best Porsche of all to my barn, a 993 4S...

    Guess I like nostalgia.

F430 has a timing CHAIN that never needs replacing, 100 more horsepower, better transmission, better suspension. Much better car.

360 is more beautiful looking and more beautiful sounding.

Personally, I like the looks of the 360 compared to the 430.

There's no question the 430 is faster (especially low-end torque) and a more "modern" car.

Subjectively, though, I think the 360's more rounded lines are more beautiful than the 430's angular lines.

Prefer the 430 and love both but 40/50K difference is a lot of money for what you get ..

Don't forget that the 430 has more techo wizardry too. It's got the eDiff. I agree the 360 wins on looks.

...I even like the non-modern interior better.

TBH very little about the 430 interior is modern, boxy shapes, exposed screws, inconvenient buttons, Fiat type dials, dated doorcards, great car but the inside looks like the facelifted 360 it is.

I prefer the 360 styling over 430. To me, the 430 design seems to be more leaning towards functionality (better aero hence better handling); therefore, not as pretty.

The 430 is definitely one of the best sounding Fcar though.

Don't count on the chain yet... they do stretch and may need replacement in the future as on some other cars with chains.. e.g. mini. If people drove them more then this issue would be better quantified.

    Same here.

I've driven a 360cs and own F430. My preference is still the F430. I'm very happy with it. Love the sound and power. I've driven a 458 also. Much better car vs the F430. However I still like the looks of the F430 vs 458.

Interesting... Thanks, the 355 is a keeper but I may add a 360CS or a 430 since there would be a choice on the 430 I was curious :)

The 430 wheels make the 360 IMO - Totally different looking car with 430 (or CS) wheels.

Nice pair - great taste - would love to add a 993 Cs or C4s to the stable - Congrats :)
