I suggest that you consider doing maintenance during the winter. I purchased in spring and this is my first winter with the car.

I took my car in for minor buff up (wheel rash, a scratch here, seat side bolsters) and, lo and behold, a three day job turned into a calander week so far. If this were the spring, I would be annoyed at not having my car for a week of prime driving season. As it is, there is a nor-easter coming and I don't mind them making excuses when I call.

Another thing - a lot of shops have a discount for majors during winter. Even fluids might be negotiable in the slow season. I don't know why anyone would have belts done in May when you miss less driving and pay fewer dollars in February.

Just passing on what I think is a lesson learned for me.

    Yep, +1!

Here in Germany we have at least OCT-MAR or OCT-APR where you really cannot drive (even dry, often too much salt on the roads). Use the time wisely to work on your machine.

As I write this my instrument cluster is finally out workings higher wattage bulbs and a jumper to by-pass the dimmer, and the interior comes out next for new carpets and new leather. Headers and cats next. I'll find something else to do too I am sure. I figure by spring I'll have a "brand new" car. :)
