Differential Noise

I was getting a noise from the differential on my 2014 458 with 24,000 miles. You could hear it when the wheels were turned and you were moving from a stopped position. It didn't sound metallic. The differential gear oil was changed 2 years ago and Redline gear oil and anti-slip compound was installed. I don't remember when I first started hearing the noise.

I just had the differential gear oil changed and used Liquid Moly plus an additive. The noise went away. I'm sending the old oil to Blackstone for analysis to see if there is any unusual amounts of wear metals in it.

I don't know if my experience is unusual but thought I'd mention it.

The ball joints were checked and were okay. The fluid change fixed the problem so the fluid was most likely the problem.

Yes, when the wheels were turned and starting from a stopped position. I haven't heard the noise since changing the fluid almost a year ago.
