My 1986 ( Mondial 3.2, U.S. version) was not starting when it was hot.

After reading up a bit, I was pretty convinced that it was my fuel accumulator.

I ordered a new fuel accumulator, and in the process of removing my old fuel accumulator I did see fuel in the line going back to the tank, which I think is the telltale sign of a broken fuel accumulator. So I believe I am barking up the right tree.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to disconnect the hose between the fuel accumulator and the fuel pump. The one between the fuel accumulator and the fuel filter was no problem.

I thought maybe I would have better luck, disconnecting the line at the fuel pump, and also had no luck with this connection.

I tried the penetrating fluid and spent many hours on both bolts without success.

My next thought was to cut the line and discard the side attached to the accumulator and (hopefully rotate the line free on the fuel pump side).

Are there any other ideas about how to tackle this problem?

Is cutting a line a terrible idea?

I guess the fallback position would be to just put a whole new fuel pump in if I couldn’t get the line disconnected.

    Thank you in advance!
