Does anyone have a pair of Magneti Marelli Digiplex MED 802a ignition boxes that they no longer need? Maybe someone has upgraded to other ignition units? I would be interested in hearing from other members
    Many thanks

It has been several years ago now, but I upgraded my USA-spec 801a boxes to the Euro-spec 802a boxes. I bought a pair of New Old Stock 802a boxes from the factory authorized parts supplier in the U.K. after finding them to be very reasonably priced. They had a pretty large supply of these parts on hand with very limited market demand (exactly how many Euro-spec 2Vi cars were made in their day that needed new boxes? Not so many).

The selling price of my old perfectly fine used 801a boxes here on F-Chat paid for nearly the entire cost of the NOS 802a's, so if you have not yet done so, I'd advise checking to see if there are still any of these left.

Since you brought it up, the 802a boxes provided a notable performance increase in my USA-spec car due to the 802a's better ignition timing. It's a very satisfying 100% plug-and-play upgrade, with nothing else needing to be done.

    Hi Dave
Your reason for changing to the 802 boxes from 801’s is exactly what I’m trying to achieve, I have a 1981 US GTSi 2V and am removing all the pollution control equipment so wanted to get as close to EU spec as possible, unfortunately haven’t found any 802a’s either in the U.K. or elsewhere for the moment but yep certainly I’d be willing to exchange my 801a’s for 802a’s should the opportunity arrive
If anyone has any ideas ?

FWIW sent my 801 units out for rebuilding into 802 units. The rebuild included a rev limiter. Cost approximately 2000usd

    Hi Steve
Yep I think it must be David Feinberg, I enquired with him some time ago and yes he can install new modernised equipment to original specs into the existing units if you send them to him, was just a bit out of my price range at the time

Yes sir. David was extremely nice to work with. Very satisfied with the “soft” rev limiter......
