(1981 308 GTSi US) I was in the process of trying to chase down the ground connection for the coolant expansion tank temp sensor (sometimes the warning light comes on dimly while driving). I removed the cover for the ignition modules and found 2 loose wires plus 2 washers and a nut. If I had to guess I’d say they’re ground harnesses and the nut/washers are to fasten the eyelets to a ground stud. I’ve looked around in the general area and can’t find a ground stud anywhere. What are these wires for, and where are they supposed to connect?

I think those are ground wires attached the one of the bolt that secures the plate cover for the Digiplexes.

I *think* there's a small bracket, underneath the cover plate that you ground to... '81 may be different than the QV, but it's one or the other.

The plate cover bolts will fit through those eyelets, so that would work. That doesn’t explain the nut and washers I found on the carpet directly under the modules and cover plate, though. I thought those might be to secure the ground wire eyelets to a ground stud.

I guess I’ll clean up the connections and mating surfaces and bolt it all back together.

    Thanks for your replies!

Bad Digiplex grounds are a known cause of strange and unpleasant problems. Some people advocate a special "auxiliary ground" for them which I'm sure is detailed in other posts.
