    listen to brian. when we changed the advance curve when the blown digiplexes were replaced with an elctromotive unit the gain in horsepower was noticeable - '81 gtsi. jon s

    I've discussed this with John (Ferraripilot) last week before as my assumption was that you only see some gain using a more aggressive advance curve below 5K RPM, but John said that you could indeed gain around 10-12 bhp at top RPM with a higher advance and a proper mixture for the two valve engines.

    True, but the trouble with the injected cars is that you can't change the fuel mixture characteristics without replacing the stock system with an aftermarket FI system. So, it costs you about $1,500-2K to get that 10-12 HP --- not a great "bang-for-buck" equation.

    Changing the air/fuel ratio is quite straight forward with the K-Jetronic setup. Question is if the low end suffers when you adjust the mix for high end performance.

    Bumping an old thread because I was reading this a couple of days ago. Iain Tyrell confirmed that in the 80's, Ferrari detuned the K-Jet cars to meet emissions and to make it work with cats. So HP gains after getting the DigiPlex remapped seems to have some truth to it. Watch the video from the 20:00 minute mark
