Some photos - it came off the truck last night -- in front of guest house & in garage w/another horsey car, plus a possible ad for Griot's catalogue

    Any comments/background/ideas/questions?

So far, everything works except tape player in radio and the clock. It drives perfectly, even goes into second immediately.

Your car looks GREAT. I don't normally care about colors, but that is one classy combination.

I put the black sisal mats over the red carpets -- I like the all black interior with the red seat inserts. Almost -- understated?!

Looks great and has a fine home. The black mats tone the red down just right. The red seats are all you want or need. Very sophisticated!
Does it drive as nice as it looks?
Have lots of fun finding out. Tell us all.

It drives spectacularly well ... as far as I can tell! Everything is incredibly tight, the suspension seems perfect. It sounds amazing, but not obnoxiusly loud, except when you go under an overpass! I had only driven one briefly before, and never noticed the singing of the chains. It's just cool. Got it up to 100 on an empty stretch of parkway, and it was just whistling along, no sweat. A couple of creaks from body flex over bumps, but less than my 10-year old Jaguar conv., and it handles and drives in a completely different universe and reality. On the Westchester horse country backroads, at 4500-6000 revs, this was the best-handling, most fun-to-drive car I have ever been in by such a huge distance I can't really compare it to anything. Modern F's just have too much jazz to be that kind of fun without putting my life on the line - something I have zero interest in doing now tghat I have something like this to live to drive! It just has such good manners. My son was laughing the whole time, because I had such a S-Eating Grin on my face.

Cosmetically, the paint is 32-1/2 years old, and has it's share of chips, little dings, and spidery cracks, but overall looks really great. No rust anywhere I could find it. Maybe I'll think about a repaint during Pres. Giuliani's second term. (JK)

When I parked in town to get some coffee, everyone who pulled in left an empty space on either side and just gawked (and this is a town that's used to seeing Ralph Lauren tool by in one of his museum pieces fairly often.)

My son and I just sat in the garage for 30 minutes last night listening to the radio and looking at the car while I smoked a cigar. I think we've lost it. I know the troubles will come, but until they do, I'm in love. Jim S. got it dead right when he told me don't look for reasons not to buy one of these, look for reasons TO buy one.

What a piece of art. To think we started in caves with sharpened stones!

You are figuring it out just fine. At 100 it is just starting to smooth out. It cruises at 120-130 all day long with an airplane ride. Above 130 you know that you can't pass a 355, 360, 430 or 599 in a straight line but who would want to on a public highway. An amazing car that is "just right" for someone who has nothing to prove and a lot more life to live. Too bad that no one has made anything like it in the last 33 years. But that fact is for us to enjoy.

Beautiful car. Congrats!!! I've had my 74 for 3 years now and I still stop and stare every time I go into the garage. The beauty doesn't lessen with age.
Curious about the license plates. I assume it came with the Calif plates and you switched to NY.
Does anybody know about getting Calif Historic plates and the advantages? Of course this is directed at any of the blessed 35,000,000 fortunate enough to live in California.

In NY State, you need "Historic" insurance (most companies issue this kind of ID card & coverage. You then go to DMV (always fun) Then, you are supposed to drive the car only to shows and events and to get it serviced, with minimal joy riding. The plates look cool, but I couldn't give up joyriding, as that's what I got the car for!!!

BTW - in NY at least, Historic insurance was no cheaper than regular insurance, and my regular policy from Chubb added the car on for less than the specialty insurers.

Congrats, car looks superb. I take it that the car was supplied in black?
I have 07528 UK supplied RHD which was supplied in black originally and is also a GTs wide arch, currently under full restoration and being put back to it's original colour. I laughed my head off at the bit where you mentioned smoking the cigar!
    Regards, Graham.

The car has never been painted or touched in any way that I can tell.

The Dino sings... I took it up and down a great local road three times today, and was just bummed I had to put it away and do some other things.

The car sings, but a little reasonable quality music might be nice once in a while...

The Mustang is not a GT -- it was an impulse purchase off eBay that worked out just fine. I'm afraid the pony's gonna feel a bit abandoned, though I can't bring myself to take the Dino out for errands, so it won't sit totally unused!

The car looks just as awesome as promised. Even though it pops into second without a problem, this shift is still a lot of stress on the gearbox, make sure that you go from 1st to 3rd, until the car is warm to save the wear. Dino's aren't super fast off the line, but once you've driven one, you'll be hooked. The best way i can describe it is as a high powered go cart. Wait until you do a u-turn under an over pass without any traffic issues. You'll have to have someone else wipe the grin off of your face.
